Ahhh, do you smell the fresh-cut grass? The fresh air? Well, go grab yourself a Ballpark Frank, a soda, or a nice cold beer for 12 bucks because Opening Day is here! Listening to the crack of the back as the unofficial first day of spring is here and the boys of summer are back! One of the most exciting days of the year is upon us. The 2025 MLB season is gearing up to be a great one with plenty of juicy storylines. So grab your scorecards, pencil in your lineup, and make sure you have plenty of sunflower seeds. Your team may not be a contender, but let’s all remember, “There is no crying in baseball!”
What Will Happen in the 2025 MLB Season?
If you have been playing MLB The Show 25 anticipating this upcoming season like I have, then you are thanking God baseball is finally back. But what can we expect this season throughout the league? Is Team Japan from the World Baseball Classic going to help the Dodgers win back-to-back World Series Championships? Will fans be able to cruise down the freeway and see a healthy Mike Trout this season? What about the people of Sacramento? Do they remember what it’s like to have professional baseball in their city? Do they even know what an Athletic is? Well, if they don’t know, now they’ll know because “We’re going back to Cali!”
Maybe you’re on the East Coast and wondering if those damn Yankees did enough to get over the hump. Are you worried about the rebuilt Red Sox or the emerging Orioles? Or you’re a huge Juan Soto fan, and even though you hate it, you have to take the subway to Citi Field to see him play. Do the Mets have enough to come out of the top-heavy NL East? Are you a Blue Jays fan waiting to see if your team will blow up in front of your very eyes? Possibly trading away cornerstone pieces at the deadline.
We may need to see if the Tigers are still riding their magic carpet or if they returned it to Aladdin. Did the Twins make it to their rescue boats after their ship sank last season? Can Bobby Witt take the Royals to the next level and challenge the Guardians for the division title? This just in, the White Sox have been eliminated from playoff contention. Just kidding, Chicago, but for real good luck next season!
Final Thoughts
Whether your team is a contender, pretender, or somewhere in between, just be glad baseball is back! The game has a bunch of young, exciting talent to watch, even if your team doesn’t have a chance at the pennant. Watch a Tarik Skubal or Paul Skenes start, tune into the modern-day Babe Ruth, Shohei Ohtani, or be electrified by Elly De La Cruz! See how the season plays out. Who knows what can happen over the 162-game marathon? What big names can be dealt at the deadline? What team will outlast the rest and bring the victory parade to their city?
