Trader Joe’s has voluntarily recalled of its Sesame Miso Salad with Salmon after discovering a packaging error. This could pose a serious health risk to people with milk allergies. The popular national grocery chain states that the affected salad was sold in 18 states. The states impacted are listed on the US Food and Drug Administration’s official publication.
U.S. FDA Announces Recall
On Tuesday, April 29, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration released an official published statement regarding the salad recall. Trader Joe’s had announced this on Monday, April 28, and the U.S. FDA provided more information about the recall itself. There are approximately 500 units of the Trader Joe’s Sesame Miso Salad with Salmon that have been sealed with parmesan cheese crumbles instead of crispy onions.
The parmesan cheese crumbles are dairy, and this is not declared on the label. The affected salads have “Use By” dates of April 28 or April 29, 2025, and have the code 00773164. As of now, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recalled product.
What Symptoms to Look For
Those who have milk allergies or sensitivities are at risk of severe allergic reactions, such as anaphylaxis, if they consume the affected product. Some other symptoms may include hives, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dizziness, or throat tightness.
