Liverpool, UK, The Floating Grace, dockside, port

Have you ever heard of the Floating Grace? Chances are you probably haven’t, and by the end of this article, I hope to have added a new adventure to your bucket list! I’d never thought of having dinner on a floating restaurant anywhere, ever. However, in Liverpool, England, you can do just that! To not share this with you would be gate-keeping, and this is something I just don’t do.

Setting Sail on the River Mersey

Everything felt surreal once on the steamboat because that is precisely what The Floating Grace is. The River Mersey was calm, and the overall balance on the entire boat was not as bumpy or unsteady as you might think. This particular outing was for the evening dinner cruise, and the reservations were packed! Even though everyone sat very close-knit, it was still comfortable.

When you first board, you will find yourself at the Albert Dock. Everyone, from staff to customers, seemed to have a mutual respect lined with excitement for the evening and one another. Everyone was excited but also calm at the same time. It is hard to explain, but if you know, you know. Something that I thought was incredibly inclusive and considerate was that The Floating Grace is wheelchair accessible. This means that those who may be unable to walk or who have to use mobility aids can still enjoy the experience.

You wouldn’t expect it, but the steamboat restaurant can seat up to 50 people. Crowded never really crosses your mind, more so snug and cozy, and you find yourself around strangers that suddenly feel close in a good way. Everyone has a sense of familiarity, and you almost don’t realize how comfortable you are as you settle into your seat. Even if you don’t have a “window seat,” you can still see and enjoy the river while you are on the steamboat.

All The Floating Grace Can Offer

This isn’t your typical cruise; don’t come expecting a vacation experience like you would with larger cruise lines. This is a more authentic and personal experience, but it is still something to do if you are vacationing in Liverpool. This cruise creates memories that awaken your senses later in life when you think of it. No matter which cruise you go on with The Floating Grace, you will surely remember the sounds, sights, and tastes!

Some people are into live sports events, music concerts – bigger crowds. Others may be more into tech-based events, from virtual events to gaming it up with friends! Those are enjoyable, but this is a historical getaway for a few hours. The Floating Grace offers a select variety of cruises to the public. There are opportunities to book private cruises and the occasional holiday-related cruise. The main cruises, though, fall under four categories, all available to adults and children. Let’s take a deeper look into each of these together:

  • Mid-Morning Cruise: Offered Mon-Fri, about an hour and a half long. Tea and biscuits, and a history-filled cruise of a shorter nature, this makes a wonderful way to escape the morning’s busy rush, or take a break from the workweek madness.
  • Evening Dinner Cruise: Offered Wed-Sat, and approximately two hours long. Dinner has two courses, and there is a bar available also! This cruise is often chosen for a more peaceful environment, and makes a great dinner date!
  • Sunday Lunch Cruise: Available to experience every Sunday! This is a two hour cruise, where you get special roasted options and chef’s work to make a savory experience for you. There is also a kid’s menu is available. Many come to enjoy this cruise with others, but you can always come treat yourself to a lunch by yourself also!
  • Afternoon Tea Cruise: Whether you are more of a tea or coffee fan, both are availble every Wed-Sat. This is a shorter cruise, but features scones, cakes, and more as you enjoy the scenery and enjoy a historical guide take you down the river and back.

It is important to point out that you need to book your cruise in advance. You can book your cruise, check out menus, and more when visiting the website for The Floating Grace. You can find more details about the menu options, which also include vegan options! Most of the eats here are very savory and are prepared with great care and detail.

Add it to Your Bucket List

I’m sure you have a bucket list for life started; if not, you should make one! Some have attended wrestling events, national parks, and more on their lists. This is a unique type of experience in life, and it is worth it. With nearby historical gardens and history at each dock you pass on The Floating Grace, it can be quite an adventure!
