Today, May 21, 2025, Team Penske officially announced the release of three prominent names. With all of the cheating allegations and scandals that the team has been the subject of lately, the decision to eliminate some members from such major roles was imperative. The Team President, the INDYCAR Managing Director and INDYCAR General Manager were officially fired today.
Roger Penske made his reasons very clear in a recent statement regarding the decision to let go of these former Team Penske members. “Nothing is more important than the integrity of our sport and our race teams. We have had organizational failures during the last two years, and we had to make necessary changes. I apologize to our fans, our partners and our organization for letting them down.“
Who Exactly Were These Team Penske Names?
Some of you may already recognize the three members that were let go today, especially if you are a die-hard Team Penske fan. For those that aren’t as familiar with names beyond the immediate drivers, here is a brief breakdown of the men that are no longer part of the team.
- Tim Cindric: Joined the team at the end of the INDYCAR SERIES season of 1999. He later took the role of president over Penske Performance in 2005. Cindric had previously been suspended for two races in 2004.
- Ron Ruzewski: Came on to the team at the beginning if the INDYCAR SERIES in the 2005 season. Before 2019 he had grown into the team’s technical director. He had also been previously suspended.
- Kyle Moyer: The most recent to join of the three, he came to be a part of the team just before the 2015 INDYCAR SERIES. In 2019, he became the general manager for the INDYCAR SERIES program.
There was an official public statement that was released in reference to today’s decisions and events. On top fines, there is a penalty that puts the two cars involved in the cheating scandal at the tail end of the race. The 2025 Inianapolis 500 is set for Sunday at 12:45 ET. Team Penske will release more public statements later this month.
