Pragmata

Back in 2020, Capcom announced its sci-fi action mystery, Pragmata, at the PlayStation 5 exclusive event. It presented an astronaut named Hugh searching for a young girl dressed in a blue bomber jacket, Diana. After two production delays, Capcom finally revealed its long-awaited game at Sony’s June 2025 State of Play. Diana’s drawing reveals its finalized release year for 2026, responding with “It’s real XD.”

The Delays of Pragmata

Gamers caught a glimpse of Pragmata in 2020 as a PS5 reveal trailer. Capcom didn’t give more details about the game aside from being a mystery. The story presented itself with these strangers living on a desolated Earth. The translucent cat senses the satellite falling towards them as it crashes through the projected sky. Hugh and Diana successfully avoided their death by throwing a net, delaying its impact. The trailer later revealed that their Earth was a field projection. When Diana sees the blue planet, Hugh tells her it’s their ticket to freedom.

What was originally a 2022 game was later changed to 2023. Pragamata’s development team posted an apology video on Capcom’s X(formerly Twitter) account. The video shows a sad Diana holding her drawing with a frowning face. 2022 was crossed out, and 2023 is written below it. She wrote “sorry” because she felt unsure of her game’s current state.

Curious gamers were later provided a teaser image of Diana in front of a glitching building. It was labeled with “1:1 GDIIATNCAH myosotis” on top. Theorists attempted to figure out how it links to the story. However, googling the name leads to two separate answers. 1:1 GDIIATNCAH will autocorrect to 1:1 ganache, made with half heavy cream and half chocolate. Myosotis refers to the forget-me-not flower named after the Greek name. With the June 2025 “First Contact” trailer, Pragmata’s story is fully established.

What is Pragmata about?

In the far future, tech company Delphi Corporation combined their 3rd-generation Lunafilament with advanced generative artificial intelligence. This created the ultimate mass projection to build the perfect utopia. Think of it as an architect giving a 3d printer to build an entire house, but for entire cities. This came at the cost of humanity colonizing the moon to continue hunting for materials for Lunafilament.

Over time, Delphi Corporation’s tech designed AI workers that assisted in their mission. They soon became hostile to anyone who wanted to transfer to Earth. Those who have been following Pragmata’s development hypothesized that Diana could be one of these lifeforms. She later nursed Hugh back to health after what was assumed to be a great fall. Together, they attempt to escape from the lunar station.

Brief Gameplay Analysis

After waiting for five years, Pragmata shows off official gameplay. Hugh travels around areas by running, floating across gaps in zero gravity, and riding station rails. Luckily, players don’t have to worry about Diana running about. She always latches onto Hugh’s back. When there are locked entrances, she will hack into the lunar station’s system to unlock them.

In combat, this duo is proven to be a powerhouse. Hugh can shoot guns, tackle, and time his dodges. Diana assists him by hacking to slow down enemies and manipulate their abilities against them. According to game director Cho Yanghee, players will need to control them simultaneously. The game’s footage presented how effective timing your hacking can help Hugh and Diana progress their story.

Pragmata is scheduled to launch in 2026. In the meantime, Capcom has dedicated a webpage for the game. Yanghee advised followers to keep a close eye on it as the team shares more details. We also welcome Diana on being part of Mega Man’s blue bomber squad for this long-awaited IP.
