Tennessee Titans, NFL, Will Levis

The Tennessee Titans’ QB Will Levis will undergo season-ending surgery on his right shoulder. It breaks your heart to see this happen to a young player. How does this impact a team that took a QB number one in the draft, and how will this affect Levis’ future? Let’s jump right into it.

Titans’ QB’s Injury

Levis is having this season-ending surgery to his right shoulder, which he injured last season. He then would reaggravate it in the latter part of the season. According to reports, Levis has been unable to shake the discomfort, and his shoulder has been bothering him all offseason—a tough blow for a young player who was competing for the starting spot in Tennessee.

What Does This Mean For The Titans?

It doesn’t mean much other than it’s bad for Levis. He was a disaster when he played last season. So bad that the franchise drafted Cam Ward number one overall in the NFL Draft to get a spark at the position. When you select a player 33rd overall two seasons ago and essentially move on, you can read between the lines as to what the team thinks of said player.

This means Ward is poised to start the season as QB1. He has a tall task, though. They start the season against the Denver Broncos. Going against one of the best defenses in the league isn’t how you’d want to start your career. Rookie QBs don’t have a good track record in their opening start. Not ideal for Ward.

Final Thoughts

This is a painful injury for Levis, and it sucks for a player going into his third season to have it ripped away. It is a massive loss for him. I know the competitor in him is hurting. However, he has the talent to bounce back. If he can improve his decision-making, he should thrive in a backup role or as a potential starter for his next team.
