Earlier this year, Teen Titans Go voice actor Greg Cipes announced he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. On Sept. 7, new information came to light that the beloved Beast Boy actor had his Warner Bros. contract terminated on Valentine’s Day. DC fans soon became confused as Cipes revealed that his health issue led him to be reassigned as a new Teen Titans Go character for Season 10.
When was Greg Cipes Diagnosed with Parkinson’s?

Greg Cipes has been one of the most influential actors since joining Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. to voice Beast Boy. In recent years, he has been battling illnesses while staying strong for fans. He gave a public update about his health as the green animal shapeshifter on TikTok on Mar. 5th, 2025:
“I’ve healed myself from skin cancer, COVID, heavy metal poisoning, chronic diseases in my bones, and now, I got diagnosed with early-onset Parkinson’s, which I’m gonna beat too. You’re going to come along with me on this healing journey, rejoice, and learn a bunch. That’s what’s up, yo. Adios, see you soon.”
The announcement hinted at Teen Titans Go’s return, which was confirmed on Jun. 11th. At Annecy Fest, Cartoon Network celebrated the studio’s 25th anniversary with a full show lineup in store. One of the returning shows was Teen Titans Go! renewed for a tenth season. Fans of the DC cartoon hoped to hear Cipes’ iconic character voice.
Bold Warner Bros. Firing Stirs Confusion
News of Greg Cipes’ firing was revealed in an interview with DC Brand Influencer Emmanuel Devon Newsome this past Sunday. Newsome posted about Warner Bros. ending Cipes’ show contract because of his Parkinson’s diagnosis on Instagram:
“He shared upsetting details about his wrongful termination by Sam Register. The other Teen Titan Go! cast members get to keep their jobs. It occurred on Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14th), and the OG Titans begged him that the show would not be the same without Cipes. The things that Register said and did to him were very inhuman.”
From there, Newsome motivated his fans to use #savegregcipes on their social media. Cipes himself was very happy and gave two comments on the post. This felt conflicting for some as the actor showed gratitude to the production studio back in April:
“I wanted to take a moment to thank Warner Bros. The studio, the cast, and you, the fans, totally got my back. And I got yours. Whether you have Parkinson’s or any other disease, just know you are not alone.”
A source informed Comic Book Resources that Warner Bros. did not fire Cipes. When the studio learned of his Parkinson’s, the staff negotiated with him for a new character in Teen Titans Go. Early-onset Parkinson’s can affect mostly basic motor skills, such as walking. They noticed his symptoms affected his ecstatic performance for Beast Boy.
The Action Hero Voice Actor’s Career Remains Uncertain

Since 2003, Greg Cipes has voiced multiple action heroes for various cartoons. Beast Boy remains his most iconic voice, growing with the character for over 22 years. He’s also well-known for voicing Kevin M. Levin (Ben 10), Michelangelo (Nickelodeon’s TMNT), and Iron Fist (Marvel). With the latest controversy, he has put his career in jeopardy. Furthermore, Cipes’ vocal replacement for Beast Boy has yet to be announced.
Cipes has yet to respond after Warner Bros. made a public statement about his negotiated contract. Until more substantial evidence can support his claim, fans remain confused about his status with the studio. Some believe that James Gunn could rescue Cipes’ heroic role for his upcoming Teen Titans’ Elseworlds movie. The DC director has already confirmed that the script has not been finalized.
