Borderlands 4 will be introducing four new Vault Hunters to the scene. We will primarily focus on Harlowe today. For those of you who are new, Vault Hunters are the playable characters who you will be liberating the world of Kairos. This article will cover Harlowe the Gravitar. Harlowe is a Technomancer, one who uses gadgets as her abilities and uses them to cause mayhem on the battlefield.
Harlowe the Gravitar

Harlowe is a former Maliwan combat scientist. She is driven by the need to understand things and how they work. Along with an enthusiastic spirit and her love of life, she has a spirit that can’t be beat. She uses her contraptions to have crowd-controlling capabilities with Cryo and Radiation, as well as buffing her allies.
Gravitar Vault Hunter Trait: Entanglement –
Whenever Harlowe uses her Action Skill on enemies, those enemies become Entangled.
Entangled: Entangled enemies share a portion of Gun Damage and Skill Damage (7%) with all other Entangled enemies.
Harlowe’s Skill Trees

CHROMA Accelerator [Action Skill]
Fire an Unstable Energy Pocket from Harlowe’s CHROMA Accelerator. The Unstable Energy Pocket passes through enemies and deals Cryo Damage to all enemies it passes near. Pressing Action Skill causes the Unstable Energy Pocket to explode and deal heavy Radiation Damage in a large area.

Harlowe’s CB Skill Tree revolves around her Unstable Energy Pocket Skill. It utilizes chaining elemental procs, using mechanics like entanglement, and keeps the uptime on her Action Skill as low as possible so you can use it as often as possible. These effects are used by Cooldown Reduction and On-Kill effects. The branches from the Red Skill Tree are uniquely different, however, allowing for a diversity of gameplay with this skill tree.
- Left: Cryo, Action Skill Cooldown, Crowd Control
- Center: Radiation and DoT Specialist
- Right: Defensive, Utility, and Action Skill Usage.
Zero-Point [Seize the Day Skill Tree]
Press Action Skill to use Harlowe’s HALO Accelerator to place an enemy in Stasis for a duration. Enemies immune to Stasis take Damage instead.
Pressing Action Skill again causes the enemy in Stasis to be slammed into the ground in the direction Harlowe is facing, and creates a small explosion.
Retriggering Stasis has a Cooldown

This skill tree reminds me of Maya from Borderlands 2. Now, instead of the Siren suspending, the technomancer will be. In this Blue Skill Tree, the focus is on crowd control using Stasis. Later in the tree, players will get the ability to link them together. In this case, like a Hunter’s tether from Destiny, once linked, damage will be spread out and dealt to all that is connected. It’s called Entangled. This is part of Harlowe’s kit, where enemies linked will deal 7% of damage to everyone connected.
- Left: Crown Control, Debuffs, and Cryo
- Center: Sustain and Cryo
- Right: Chain damages and Radiation

Flux Generator [Cosmic Brilliance skill tree]
Harlowe throws her Flux Generator in front of her, which projects an Energy Field, dealing Cryo Damage over time and Entangling enemies. Allies inside the Energy Field gain Overshield.
Press Action Skill to pick up your Flux Generator and toss it again.

This Green Skill Tree is a supportive skill tree. It will utilize an Area of Effect from her Action Skill to buff her teammates and damage enemies, as well as debuff them. With most skills, debuffing enemies to lower their damage resistance or buffing allies so they do more damage with Cryo.
- Left: Damage Buffs
- Center: Cryo and Radiation
- Right: Team Support and Ricochet
Gear Augments will change how these skills play, and that excites me. It reminds me of the Adept Asari from Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, god, I miss that. Continuing with the Destiny references, Flux Generator will be compared to a Titan’s bubble, without the protection, for now. This appears to be the least… interesting Tree. Will probably still use it from time to time, but not as heavily as the Cannon or Zero-Point. What are you Excited for? Harlowe is a favorite of mine already!
