LA Dodgers, World Series

Baseball legend Alex Rodriguez recently quoted that the 2025 World Series between the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers was the greatest series of all time. Well, I am used to agreeing with my girlfriend Alex, and A-Rod, I would have to agree with you, too. This year’s fall classic had something for every baseball fan to enjoy. The stars took center stage, the excitement kept us on the edge of our seats, and unsung heroes became household names. Major League Baseball couldn’t have asked for more to re-engage the world in the game of baseball.

The Reasons Why Dodgers/Blue Jays Will Go Down as the Best

When you think of the World Series and MLB Postseason in general, it’s always a mystery who will come up with the big hit or which pitcher will dazzle through the opposing lineup. Well, this year’s championship series had plenty of moments, storylines, and chaos for everyone to enjoy.

There is a saying in sports: big-time players make big-time plays in big-time games. There is no bigger player in the world than Shohei Ohtani! Making history yet again, Ohtani reached base nine times in the epic Game 3. The Japanese sensation would go 4-4 with four extra base hits, including two home runs.

Shohei wouldn’t be the only Dodger to stand out in the 7-game World Series. After 18 innings in Game 3, the lovable Freddie Freeman sent the LA faithful home happy with a walk-off home run! Prior to Freeman’s heroics, a relief pitcher named Will Klein put himself on the map by pitching over four innings of scoreless baseball in extra-innings.

If Major League Baseball wanted its stars to shine bright, it definitely got its wish. Whether it was Ohtani, Freeman, Vlad Guerrero Jr., or Bo Bichette, all four of these All-Stars came up clutch when their teams needed them the most. Throughout the seven-game series between the Dodgers and Blue Jays, both teams had moments that will live on in baseball immortality.

Dodgers and Blue Jays Deliver Plenty Of Storylines

If you weren’t impressed by some of the biggest names in baseball, this World Series provided plenty of storylines. The return of All-Star Bo Bichette was no disappointment. Bichette gave the Blue Jays an early lead in Game 7 with a three-run homer that could boost his offseason free-agent stock.

Veteran pitcher Max Scherzer in his first year with the club, gave Toronto all he had in the seven game series. Scherzer, a two-time World Series winner, gave two quality starts giving the Blue Jays a chance to win.

Legendary LA Dodgers pitcher Clayton Kershaw had announced his retirement earlier this season. What a way to end a Hall of Fame career! He landed his third World Series ring and entered Game 3 in an emotional, high-stress inning. The Dodgers’ great got the third out in extra innings, prompting a huge eruption from the home crowd.

Then there was Game 7! The exciting back-and-forth game proved nine innings weren’t enough for this epic battle. When we all thought Canada was going to get their first baseball championship in over thirty years, the team from the “City of Angels” wouldn’t go down without a fight.

Max Muncy entered the batter’s box in the eighth inning to face off against a very hot Trey Yesavage. Muncy was able to hit one over the fence to cut the lead to 4-3. Then, in the ninth, with only two outs to go, Closer, Jeff Hoffman, delivered a pitch to the most unlikely of heroes. Miguel Rojas hit a line drive into the sea of fans, leaving the city of Toronto and his own manager, Dave Roberts, completely stunned. Rojas then doubled down with a defensive play, gunning out a runner at home in the bottom of the ninth by an inch.

The fans began preparing for extra innings once again. Luckily for baseball fans, the game didn’t match the length of the record-tying third game. In the eleventh, the “Fresh Prince of LA,” Will Smith hit a solo shot off of trade deadline acquisition Shane Bieber to give the Dodgers a 5-4 lead. At the bottom of the inning, Mookie Betts ended the MLB season in poetic form, as the first-year shortstop turned a double play to send the hometown fans home crying.

Final Thoughts

Words can’t express how great this World Series between the Dodgers and Blue Jays was. The young superstars were on display. Guys like Yesavage, Yamamoto, and Klein had their moments in the spotlight. The games that went to extra innings featured so many exciting moments, from gunouts at third and home to run-saving plays and big hits that kept fans’ adrenaline pumping. Shohei Ohtani proved he is the greatest player on the planet.

Major League Baseball could not be happier with the results of these games. John Smoltz also offered great insight that most common baseball fans would otherwise miss. The only way this year’s World Series could have been any better is if I had some skin in the games. Let’s see if the LA Dodgers will be able to three-peat next season!
