Say it ain’t so. Marjorie Taylor Greene (MTG) has been unceremoniously kicked off Trump Island. Yes, one of the original MAGAs now finds herself on the outside looking in. Her crime: pushing for the release of the Epstein Files and advocating for the Affordable Care Act tax subsidies. You know she’s really out for two main reasons:
- Trump has promised to back a primary challenger against MTG in the 2026 Congressional Elections.
- The president has renamed her: Marjorie “Traitor” Green or Brown, depending on the press op.
He really got to her with the traitor moniker. She was already smarting from Mr. Trump’s non-endorsement of her gubernatorial and Senate aspirations in Georgia.
So, MTG is off the island. But c’mon, is anyone really surprised? The list of former Trump advisors, aides, confidants, and friends who have been cut adrift is long and illustrious. Let’s review a few of the notables who have been given their one-way ticket off the island.
Notables Evicted from Trump Island
Omarosa Manigault Newman
I’m starting the list with an oldie but a goldie—Trump’s old friend from his “The Apprentice” days, Omarosa Manigault Newman. Once the apple of the president’s eye, she briefly served as Director of Communication for the Office of Public Liaison in his first term. But less than a year later, she was escorted off the White House grounds because, in Trump’s words, “she was always late and people hated her.” Months later, when asked if the country would be okay with her former friend in office, she tearfully said, . “It’s going to not be okay. It’s not.”
Anthony Scaramucci
The “Mooch.” “Mooch” had a short but memorable romance with Trump in 2017. Scaramucci was hired as the president’s Communications Director, and his tenure lasted exactly 11 days. After a week that included a profanity-filled phone call with Chief Strategist Steve Bannon, a divorce filing by his wife Deidre Ball, and missing the birth of his son, “Mooch” was booted off the island. When later asked about the president, Scaramucci said, “It comes down to the meanness. He will hurt anybody and anything in his way.”
Michael Cohen
Michael Cohen served many years as Trump’s personal attorney and “fixer.” He handled, among other things, the “hush money” payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels for her silence over their 2006 liaison. When asked in 2017 about his loyalty to the president, Cohen said, “I’d never walk away.”
But in 2018, after word got out about the Daniels payout and other illicit payments made by Cohen at the behest of Trump, Cohen was sentenced to three years in prison as the fall guy in the scheme. In January of 2025, Cohen had this message for potential Trump staffers. “They should be careful. Look at Rudy Giuliani. Like Icarus flying too close to the sun, he fell. The same thing happened to me and others in Trump’s orbit.”
Rudy Giuliani
Speaking of Mr. Giuliani, he presents the most pathetic tale of someone evicted from Trump Island. The president did award Mr. Giuliani the Medal of Freedom earlier this year and last Friday the former New York mayor was pardoned by Trump for his role in arranging an alternate slate of 2020 electors. But in terms of his influence in the new administration, he is persona non grata. Once the president’s personal attorney, loyal confidant, and leading election denier, Mr. Giuliani is now an afterthought in the MAGA world.
The bankrupt and disbarred Giuliani is so far removed from the island that he has complained that administration officials have given him the “cold shoulder.” He claims that FBI Director Kash Patel and Attorney General Pam Bondi have not returned his calls about concerns he has about recent Justice Department hires. The president is said to be still fond of Giuliani but has never forgiven him for his failed lawsuits related to alleged fraud in the 2020 election.
Elon Musk
Elon Musk and Donald Trump. The “bromance” to end all bromances. This started out as a win-win for both parties. Musk provided significant cash to keep Trump out of jail and to fund his reelection efforts, and in return, received valuable government contracts for his companies and direct access to classified government information. Musk camped out at Mar-a-Lago and later in Washington, D.C., as his DOGE minions tore apart congressionally funded departments and terminated thousands of government employees.
Critics say it couldn’t last, and well…, they were right. It turns out Elon couldn’t play well with others, as evidenced by his public spats with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffey, and Senior Trade Counselor Peter Navarro. He began to question some of the president’s appointments and was vocal in his criticism of Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill Act.”
On May 29, Musk announced he was leaving his post as “special government employee” and would resume full management of his companies. After some acrimonious comments by both parties, they have settled into an uneven truce, but alas, the “bromance” is over.
Banished from Trump Island
Perhaps it is comforting to MTG that she is not alone in her banishment from Trump Island. There were many before her, and there will be many more to come. I have no great fondness for Ms. Greene, but I want to say that any death threats she has received due to her comments and beliefs are misplaced, evil, and should be prosecuted. Everyone should be able to express their opinions honestly and without fear of retribution. I call on the president to denounce these threats and call out the cowards who have made them.
