The Kyiv-Russian War escalates after 3 of Ukraine’s regions experienced air strikes. Two of its western cities, Ternopil and Lviv, are within distance of Poland. The NATO member reported an explosion in their railroad network between these events. Investigators identified it as an “unprecedented act of sabotage.”
It occurred on the route linking the country’s capital, Warsaw, and its Ukrainian neighbor, Lublin. Due to the ongoing circumstances, Russia is under suspicion for sending two Ukrainian hitmen for the damages. Russian President Vladimir Putin currently denies Poland’s accusation. He now risks his nation in a heated battle with NATO.
Russia Attacks Kharkiv and Lublin-Warsaw Railway
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine publicly reported Russian drones and missiles attacking Kharkiv on Nov. 17th. According to their social media, two of their northeastern cities were struck. Balakliia suffered from a missile barrage as it destroyed a residential area containing a kindergarten and homes. Three victims were killed while a dozen were left injured. Velykyi Burluk got swarmed by drones armed with a flamethrower attachment. They committed arson on private homes, killing one Ukrainian man in the process.
Meanwhile, in Poland, Prime Minister Donald Tusk was informed by Polish investigators about an explosion on the Lublin-Warsaw railway. The Institute of War stated that they received intel from a train conductor near Mika. Found at the scene was a 300-meter electric cable laid on the route to Rzeszów. It was traced to a nearby parking lot. Investigators found that a remote detonator was used to activate the planted C4 bomb. Polish Prime Minister Tusk declared that the railway explosion was a Russian sabotage.
His assumptions are supported by the previous railway attacks in Sumy and Lozova on Oct. 31st. The Lublin-Warsaw railway also acted as one of NATO’s delivery routes. Because they were helping Ukraine’s war effort, Tusk predicted that the organization would be Russia’s next target.
Poland Railway Sabotuers Arrested, Followed by Lviv Strike
On Nov. 18th, Polish investigators captured the saboteurs responsible for the Warsaw-Lublin railway sabotage. According to the Sejm, Poland’s lower house of parliament, the two suspects are Ukrainian citizens. These individuals are believed to be collaborating with the Russian Federation.
The Sejm’s leader informed, “We are certain that the attempt to blow up the tracks and the violation of the railway infrastructure were intentional. They aimed at causing a catastrophe in rail traffic.” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky agrees to cooperate with Tusk as the war raises further concerns for NATO and Ukraine’s allies.

However, after landing in Türkiye, Zelensky and the world were informed that Russia bombarded Lviv’s energy infrastructure. Not only did it leave many residents without power, but the aerial assault also caused a warehouse explosion. Ukraine National News reported at 1:30 AM that thick smoke was looming over the city on Nov. 19th. Lviv’s Regional Center for Disease Control and Prevention measured carbon monoxide levels rose to 4.6, issuing an advisory for people with poor respiratory systems.
The Yantar Fires Laser at British Air Force After Ternopil Assault
Around the same time, Ternopil witnessed Russian drones and missiles attacking its residential areas. Rescue workers scattered to escort civilians to safety. The city reported 26 Ukrainians were killed, including three children. Ninety-three are left wounded in the swarm’s aftermath. The Ukrainian Air Force identified the missiles as Russian X-101 (Kh-101). This cruise missile can stealthily avoid radar trackers in low altitudes and carries a conventional warhead.

Both Lviv and Ternopil are within range of the Ukraine-Poland border, which intensifies the allegations against Russia’s involvement with the railway sabotage. While Putin and his officials continue to deny, the pressure appears to have taken a toll. The Daily Beast reported that the Russian naval ship Yantar shot lasers at monitoring British Air Force jets.
According to the United Kingdom’s Defense Secretary John Healy, the incident happened off the coast of Scotland. As a NATO ally, the British government is planning to update the engagement rules for naval officials. Healy publicly warned Putin, “We see you. We know what you are doing. And if the Yantar travels south this week, we are ready.”
How These Attacks Exposes Russia’s Manipulation
Since Tusk and Zelensky formed their Ukraine-Poland alliance, more of Putin’s military agenda has been revealed. He’s currently cooperating with US President Donald Trump on a 28-point peace plan that could face the same problems as the Gaza Ceasefire. In their 20-point peace plan, Hamas is required to meet the demands for Palestine’s reformation.
The Israeli Defense Force (IDF) continues to terrorize the refugees, even after being given warnings by the United Nations. On Nov. 20th, 25 more lives were taken. Furthermore, Putin has previously persuaded Trump that ceasefire negotiations will be used as a last resort in August.
Complications between Ukraine and the US grow when the nation’s air force discovered Western-made chips in Russia’s recently deployed missiles. For the X-101s, their components were traced back to US companies, with China as the second manufacturer. Now, with Poland and Britain’s recent conflicts, other NATO members are monitoring Russian forces cautiously at their borders.
