IMP DLX2, Nintendo Switch

The IMP DLX2 is a gaming stand that allows Nintendo Switch gamers to put everything together in one useful, good-looking space. The Switch has a dock, controllers, and more, but they don’t all fit together organically. I was sent one by Team Overload PR to review, and this is the conclusion I came to.

The simple fact that you can use this with the Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch 2 is so impressive and helpful. I haven’t gotten rid of my Switch and still play things on it even as I have the newest console, which makes this stand highly versatile.

Add in the fact that it also charges the joy cons and it’s easy to see the usefulness. I had a charging station for joycons and my Pro Controller, but this combines the dock and charger into one. It even has USB cables for the Pro Controllers, so while they don’t fit on top of the IMP DLX2 stand, they can sit right there for a nice gaming setup.

I like to keep physical media, and this is especially true for Switch games lately. IMP added a nice popout try to put the cartridges in, which is a really stellar addition. It’s subtle and goes unnoticed, which helps keep the aesthetic clean while also providing really good functionality.

The lighting options are great, adding to a potential gaming setup. It has multiple RGB modes that include single colors and dynamic lighting options. This is especially great if you have a PC gaming monitor that you hook your Switch up to. It can really add to the gaming setup.

Unfortunately, while I appreciated this aspect, it didn’t do much for me, but that’s because of how I have my console(s) set up. I’m a console gamer through and through, so I have an Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and both Switches (as well as a Wii, Wii U, and DS, but that’s unrelated).

I don’t have a gaming setup with a PC. They’re all on various televisions, which means they are put in cabinets under the TVs. All the consoles are mostly hidden from view to keep things cleaner, which means that I don’t benefit from the colors. They’re cool, but they’d be playing to a literal cabinet door.

This also prevents me from being able to use the headset stand, something I believe would be among the best assets of the IMP DLX2 gaming stand. You can hang the headset on the extra piece. While this is helpful, many gamers will be like me, and the other issue is that Nintendo isn’t really a headset gaming company.

Online multiplayer with chat is huge for both Xbox and PlayStation, but less so for Nintendo. The Switch 2 just added a chat feature and other things like that, so it’s more relevant now, but most players aren’t paying for it nor are they utilizing the various accessories that enable and enhance it. So unless they, like me, have a headset for other consoles, it’s not as useful as it could be.

And while this doesn’t apply to me, either, I can appreciate the fact that the versatility allows players to grow and keep their accessories. Many Switch accessories do not work on Switch 2. The IMP DLX2 stand doesn’t have that issue. Quite a few players have held out on buying a Switch 2 yet, but when they do, they won’t have to upgrade their stand as well. It adjusts to the new console, so you don’t have to wait for the console to get the stand.

Conclusion

The IMP DLX2 gaming stand for Nintendo Switch, OLED Switch, and Switch 2 is a really solid addition to your gaming setup this holiday season. It is really useful, even if you don’t necessarily display it. But if you do, you’ll benefit from making your setup look better and have a whole lot more useful features to play with. Either way, it’s a solid addition for a pretty good price.
