On Tuesday evening, December 2, 2025, the Colorado Bureau of Investigation issued an Endangered Missing Alert for a 20-year-old woman identified as Kaylee Russell. She was last seen on Sunday around 6 p.m. near Interstate 25. Police believe they located her body on Thursday evening after several days of searching. Russell’s family says they are “devastated” to hear she was not found alive.
Search for Missing Woman
Russell was last seen on Sunday dropping her dad off near a park-and-ride in Loveland near I-25. He had helped her change a tire, and after dropping him off, she was supposed to head to her cousin’s for a visit, but she never showed up. She also did not show up to work the following day, which raised concern. A missing person’s alert was issued days later, after the family had not heard from her. On Wednesday night, Russell’s mother pleaded with the public to help search.
Russell was known to be driving a 2016 black Volkswagen Tiguan with a temporary Colorado license plate of 7880903. They described the car as having a GreeleyNissan.com sticker on the rear windshield. Police released photos of Russell and her car to help those who were out searching for her or if they had seen her. She was described as having brown hair and blue eyes, weighing around 125 pounds, and 5 feet, 6 inches tall. The outfit she was last seen wearing consisted of a black hoodie, tan pants, and brown slippers.
Many heard Russell’s mother’s pleas and aided in the search. People looked around roads, in canals, and ditches near the area she was last seen. Unfortunately, they had no luck, and several people said they wished it had turned out differently.
Abandoned Car in Colorado
The Colorado State Patrol said they found Russell’s vehicle in Northern Colorado in the afternoon following the second water search of the day. There was a search party out looking for them at the time of their discovery. They sent out divers who located a body inside a vehicle, but the person was not officially identified.
The vehicle was found near Larimer County Road 44 in the Timnath area. Reports say the car was overturned into a canal and partially submerged. The Colorado State Patrol’s Vehicular Crimes Unit began investigating the crash.
Denver7 spoke with Russell’s aunt, Renee Shook, who said at the scene, the police told the family it was Russell’s car and she was found inside of it. The news helicopter flew over the car and filmed crews bringing the car to an upright position in the water and having it towed to the shoreline.
GoFundMe Support
A verified GoFundMe was started when Russell had gone missing. It was last edited shortly after the police’s discovery. “UPDATE: Kaylee has been found, and unfortunately, she did not survive. I will continue to collect donations to help with upcoming funeral expenses and additional financial support for Rebecca as she navigates this incredible loss,” it read.
It was initially created to bring awareness to the situation and to organize search parties, as the only update on it is from yesterday, stating, “There will be an organized search held today, December 4th, at 11:00 am. Please meet at the Loveland Park and Ride on 402 and I-25. We need people who can drive, walk, have drones, etc., to continue the search for Kaylee.”
The Colorado community stepped up when Russell went missing, and her mother needed support the most. They are continuing to show up by donating to help with funeral expenses and any other unexpected costs that may come from this tragedy. The creator of the GoFundMe encouraged members of the community to contribute in any way. “Every act of kindness and support brings hope to Rebecca and her family during this heartbreaking time,” it said
