Ole Miss has done what no one deemed possible. They are advancing to the College Football Playoff Semifinals to face the University of Miami for the right to play for a National Championship. Ole Miss defeated the University of Georgia 37-34 in an upset for the ages.
Ole Miss’s Offensive Masterpiece
From down 12-21 at halftime to leading by 10 in the 4th, the Rebels outscored UGA 25-13 in the second half. Charlie Weis Jr. called a perfect game, and his team executed. That said, let’s not forget this team was abandoned by Lane Kiffin, who took the head coaching job at LSU. Who would have seen this coming? No one.
No player may have boosted their stock in the NFL Draft like Trinidad Chambless. He was flawless in the 4th quarter, completing 7 of his 12 passes for 127 yards and a touchdown. Everything from big-time throws down to his escape ability to make something out of nothing. That might be up there with Baker Mayfield’s performance in the Rose Bowl back in 2018.
They will face Carson Beck and the Miami Hurricanes in the semifinals. The winner of that game will take on either the Oregon Ducks or the Indiana Hoosiers. If there is a team of destiny outside of Indiana, it’s this Ole Miss team, from being dumped by Kiffin to a potential date with immortality.
Final Thoughts
This was an offensive masterpiece from Ole Miss against one of the best defenses in the country, and I can’t wait to see ‘The U’ taking on Ole Miss. Who do you think wins, and who will they face in the National Championship?
