Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers, NFL

This was one of the more shocking outcomes this season. The San Francisco 49ers are moving on as they defeated the defending Super Bowl Champion Philadelphia Eagles on the road, 23-19. With how their offense started, the 49ers appeared not only to compete but to win the game. The Eagles were the favorites coming in, but left with a loss.

49ers Band of Misfits on Defense

With all the injuries they’ve suffered, it is remarkable the job Robert Salah and the 49ers have done. After trailing 13-10 at the half, their defense stepped up and showed out, forcing three punts and a turnover on downs to end the game. Shutting down an Eagles offense that is riddled with the talent they have, I can’t say enough great things they did.

Nick Sirianni can’t return to the team next season. The lack of control over his team has been detrimental to it all season. The disconnect between him and Jalen Hurts makes me want to throw up. They have been one of the most penalized teams in the NFL since taking over as head coach. That results in a lack of firm control of the ship.

Final Thoughts

There is too much talent on this roster to be one-and-done in the playoffs. I am sorry, but the machine that was the Philadelphia Eagles was leaking oil all season long. However, winning masks all the issues a franchise has. When you have a team with as dominant a defense as they have, you can’t only muster 19 points. Do you think the Eagles should fire Sirianni?
