The Los Angeles Chargers have found their new OC, former Dolphins’ head coach Mike McDaniel. With Greg Roman being relieved of his duties, they looked to make a splash on their coaching staff. No pun intended, but the former Dolphins head coach is definitely that. What does this mean for Justin Herbert and the Chargers? Let’s dive into it!
Chargers Hire McDaniel

When you have a quarterback with the talent that Herbert possesses, the question you must ask yourself is how do you maximize it? Herbert is entering year seven of his NFL career and has been one of the best QBs in the league during the regular season. The playoffs are where he has struggled mightily. This could be a match made in heaven, considering where the team was last season.
Last season, the Chargers were a below-average offense. They ranked 20th in points per game, 18th in passing yards per game, 12th in rushing yards per game, 25th in offensive touchdowns, 18th in yards per play, and 14th in turnovers per game. McDaniel could be the key to unlocking the code that is Justin Herbert. He already has a track record of being the mind behind some of the best offenses in the NFL since he started calling plays.
Is This A Good Hire?
I believe this is a great hire. I have been curious about what Herbert will look like in an offense that is pass-first. We know that McDaniel loves to throw the ball down the field and has good enough weapons to do so in LA. Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Omarion Hampton, and their offensive line are more than enough to contend in the AFC.
Final Thoughts
Could we finally see the full potential of Herbert? It’s been something that many NFL and Chargers fans have been waiting to see for some time now. Do you think this was a good hire, and where will they finish in the AFC West next season?
