LaMelo Ball, Brandon Miller, Charlotte Hornets, NBA

The hottest team in the NBA, the Charlotte Hornets have won their 6th game in a row. Yes, you read that right. The hottest team in the NBA is the Hornets. If you had said that a month ago, no NBA fan would have believed you. They hosted the San Antonio Spurs this early afternoon. Let’s dive into their big-time win!

The Hornets found themselves down 38-31 early in the second quarter. In the mix of that early hole, the energy of this young team took over. From the 7:44 mark in the second to 9:11 in the 3rd quarter, Charlotte exploded on a 33-9 run. Second year forward Brandon Miller was the big hitter during that run, scoring 20 of his game-high 26 points in that stretch and extending the Hornets’ lead to 18.

However, don’t count out the Spurs. After trailing by 18, they would cut Charlotte’s lead to 10 entering the final frame. San Antonio would go on a 15-4 run to dissolve what was once an 18-point lead to 2. It takes so much energy to come back in the game; teams run out of gas. Victor Wembanyama had a good look from three for the tie, but it wasn’t meant to be as the Hornets win their 6th game in a row for the first time since the 2015-2016 season.

Final Thoughts

This is a great win for such a young team. We see teams like this build large leads but are unable to hold them because of youth. The future is bright in Charlotte with a core of Brandon Miller, LaMelo Ball, and Kon Knueppel. What are your thoughts on the win? Do you think this is a flash of what’s to come for Charlotte or just a hot stretch of basketball?
