Just like that, all the head coaching vacancies are filled. The Arizona Cardinals are hiring the offensive coordinator of the Los Angeles Rams, Mike LaFleur, to be their next head coach. With LaFleur’s familiarity with the division, this is an interesting hire. Let’s dive into the Cardinals’ next head coach!
Cardinals Hire Mike LaFleur

The Arizona Cardinals have found their next head coach. After firing Jonathan Gannon, they are trending in a different direction, hiring an offensive coach. Mike LaFleur’s NFL experience goes back to 2014, when he was an offensive intern with the Cleveland Browns, then poached by the Falcons and promoted to an offensive assistant. He has spent the last nine seasons as a passing-game coordinator with the San Francisco 49ers, then as an OC with the New York Jets and the Los Angeles Rams.
Reaction to Hire
I thought this was a solid hire. The cloud of what to do with Kyler Murray is still lingering over this franchise. It’s a tough place to be because he is wildly talented but hasn’t lived up to expectations as the Number One pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. It helps that he is coming from one of the best offensive franchises in the modern NFL with the Rams.
Final Thoughts
This team has talent, plus having the number 3 pick in this year’s NFL Draft helps. Is the division tough, yes. However, I am excited for what comes next with the Cardinals. Maybe with a new head coach, they end up keeping Murray and tap into the success they had back in 2021. What do you make of the hire?
