After winning the 2026 Royal Rumble, Roman Reigns made his way to Monday Night Raw on Netflix. By winning the Rumble, the “Tribal Chief” punched his ticket to the main event of WrestleMania 42. The WWE Universe would listen to the words of the “OTC,” wondering if he would have made his decision. Would he take on CM Punk or Drew McIntyre for their respective titles?

Reigns vs. Punk at WrestleMania

Two of the greatest of all time will go at it at WrestleMania! After a great promo on Raw, we learned that Roman Reigns will challenge CM Punk for the WWE Heavyweight Championship. The “Best in the World” will become part of a long list of Hall of Famers who have headlined the “Grandest Stage of them All” with the “Tribal Chief.”

Reigns had plenty of reasons to pick CM Punk over SmackDown Champion Drew McIntyre. He’s an ex-Heyman guy, War Games, and was trying to turn his family against him. Roman revealed the reason he will challenge Punk at WrestleMania. “I hate you” ended with what Michael Cole called another “Pipebomb.”

Final Thoughts

The WWE Universe saw this one coming with the Drew McIntyre/Cody Rhodes feud continuing at the Royal Rumble. Roman vs Punk will have a great lead-up! By now, we know they love big names at the “Super Bowl” of wrestling for those casual fans, so the main event fits. It seems a little surprising that these two have never met at the year’s biggest event.

Fans will be able to mark this matchup off their “Dream Match” Bingo card. After one promo, fans should be excited for two of the greatest superstars to meet at WrestleMania. Las Vegas doubled down on ‘Mania, and they hit twenty-one with their headline. I can’t wait to see the build-up and who comes out on top in the desert!
