Fallout 5, Bethesda

Fallout 5 is coming eventually. It may be a little while, but Bethesda remains adamant that developers are working on the game and that they’re actually spending the most time in the Fallout world as it compares to their other IPs, like DOOM or Elder Scrolls.

We know literally nothing about it other than that the next game is likely to be influenced by the events of the show. If you’re unaware, in the canon timeline, the series is the future-most entry, with all five games happening at some point prior to the show.

The previous games have explored Boston, Southern California, Las Vegas, Northern California, and Washington, D.C., while the show has explored Vegas and Los Angeles. There’s still a wide world of wasteland out there for the next game, so here are five places we would love to see next.

Where Fallout 5 Could Be Set

5. Alaska

Alaska is one of the most interesting places Fallout 5 could explore. Part of the war took place in Anchorage, which means there is a huge opportunity to expand the lore of the series with this game. Relics of the past and more insight into the war would be great, but what excites me the most is the idea of a frozen, snowy wilderness being part of the map you get to explore. Imagine running from super mutants in deep snow and thick trees.

4. Hawaii

For the opposite reason, Hawaii would also be fun. It’s tropical, and there’d be plenty of ocean to travel through. Fallout 5 could introduce boat travel to get to and from different islands in Hawaii, which would make it totally unique from the rest of the franchise. It would also be incredible to see how things went down on an island not at all connected to the rest of the United States.

3. New York

New York would be such a great location for a Fallout game. To see such a bustling city reduced to a few stragglers and wasteland creatures would be the best illustration yet of all the devastation. Similar to the Commonwealth in Fallout 4, New York would have plenty of great, iconic locations to visit, like Times Square, the Rockefeller Center, and more.

2. Florida

Florida would be cool as the antithesis of Alaska. Instead of a snowy wilderness, there could be a swampy region. The Everglades would be incredible, allowing for some unique mutants and ghouls that have adapted to the terrain. Plus, Florida is known for its wild characters. Fallout is, too, so it would be fantastic to have “Florida man” in Fallout 5. Florida has plenty of places that would make for fun landmarks, too.

1. North Carolina

Home, sweet home. But aside from this being where I live and am from, North Carolina would make a lot of sense to provide some variety. It has beaches, mountains, and everything in between. It would be great to provide a wide range of locales. The mountainous wasteland would be awesome, and it would have some of what makes the other options so good. Plus, Fallout 76 explored the Appalachia in West Virginia, and this would be somewhat similar in some areas.

Conclusion

Aside from a few locations in California, Nevada, Washington, D.C., and Boston, the entire country is available (as is Canada) to Fallout 5. I have no doubt that whatever location Bethesda picks will be a really good one, but the above options would be a lot of fun. Nevertheless, it will be fantastic to see a new section of the wasteland that was once America.
