The International Olympic Committee dealt another blow during the preparations for the 2026 Winter Olympics. Los Angeles Olympics Chairman Casey Wasserman was identified in the latest Epstein Files release on Jan. 30. He sent flirtatious emails to Jeffrey Epstein’s former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, and had an association with the Clinton Foundation, the leadership development organization by Bill and Hillary Clinton. IOC President Kirsty Coventry describes the situation as “distracting and sad.”
When Did Casey Wasserman Contact Ghislane Maxwell?
Before she was tried in court, Maxwell exchanged messages with Casey Wasserman back in 2003. At the time, he was married to Hollywood music supervisor Laura Ziffren. The messages consisted of sexual suggestions, including body massages and foreplay escapades. A spring email between March and April revealed that he was willing to do anything to see Epstein’s partner in crime “in a tight leather outfit.”
When the US Department of Justice released the third batch of the Epstein Files, Wasserman acknowledged that he was unaware of Maxwell’s scheme to exploit and abuse underage girls during their affair. He later apologized on Feb. 1, saying, “I deeply regret my correspondence with Ghislaine Maxwell, which took place over two decades. I never had a personal or business relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.”
LA Olympic Chairman Has Connections with the Clintons
In the same apology statement, Casey Wasserman confirmed that he did attend a 2002 humanitarian trip with the Clinton Foundation. “As is well documented,” he added, “I went on a humanitarian trip as part of a delegation with the Clinton Foundation in 2002 on an Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having any association with either of them.”
42nd US President Bill Clinton and US President Donald Trump previously claimed they did not know of Jeffrey Epstein’s crimes. The December 2025 file release identified that both national leaders had multiple interactions with the late convicted offender since the 1980s, according to the BBC.
He and Ghislaine Maxwell were photographed in September 1993 at the White House for the restoration project during Clinton’s presidential term. There are also two donation records from Epstein from 1992. He provided $2,000 for his presidential campaign.

Wasserman is considered an influential Democratic Party donor and an entrusted advocate of the Clinton Foundation. His apology statement matches four of Clinton’s flights on Epstein’s jets between 2002 and 2003. When the once-praised financier was charged with sex trafficking in 2019, the then-president’s spokesperson referenced the quick stops for him between the foundation trips. Both Bill and Hillary have agreed to testify in the House investigation on the matter.
Wasserman Not Yet Charged, But Maxwell’s Affair Confirms He’s a Cheater
The LA28 Chief may not be charged with his connections to Maxwell, but their emails have confirmed his suspicions of being an unfaithful lover. Laura Ziffren separated from Casey Wasserman in 2021. No one knew the reason until he was accused of serial cheating in August 2024. A Daily Mail article listed a timeline of the women he communicated with, including the LA Olympics staff and his talent agency. His earliest affair was traced to an assistant in 2006, around a year after his daughter Stella was born.
The Daily Mail has confirmed six sources who requested to remain anonymous. Soon, the women staff members and artists departed from his affiliated businesses. Singer Billie Eilish and her brother, Finneas O’Connell, traded Wasserman Music for their rival, William Morris Endeavor (WME) on Aug. 15. Former LA Olympic secretary and staff chief, Patricia Feau, has denied having a relationship with the media mogul. Due to the scandal’s growth, she later resigned in January 2025.

IOC President Coventry has admitted she is more focused on Milan’s ICE protest than the LA28 chairman. She did reveal to The Guardian that there is another IOC member in the Epstein Files, which the committee is prepared to look into. “I have not been in contact with Casey Wasserman,” she informed the press. “In terms of IOC members, we are obviously watching and monitoring the media. We need some time to look into that.”
