Christopher Judge is the star of the recent God of War games. He portrayed Kratos in the 2018 reboot and Ragnarok, its 2022 sequel. He is not, however, the star of the original games. That would be TC Carson, who helped reveal the remake trilogy and spoke to fans at Sony’s State of Play earlier this month.
It’s a fun time to be a fan of this franchise. It’s been three years since Ragnarok, but the series is returning now with a vengeance and it’ll only get stronger in the future. Despite Judge not being involved with the announced remake trilogy, he does seem to have some insider information about the upcoming release.
Christopher Judge Accidentally Shares About God of War Remake
The first three God of War games, which do not make up the entirety of the pre-2018 backlog, are going to be remade. Santa Monica Studio announced this at the Sony State of Play stream. Unfortunately, they didn’t have any footage to show or a release date, simply noting that it was in development.
Because of that, we can assume that very little has been done to remake the three games just yet. It will probably be a while before it’s released. However, thanks to a loose-lipped Christopher Judge, we do know a little bit about the game.
On a live stream, Judge accidentally revealed a few things. Most notably, he leaked that the studio is remaking the combat system for the games. It is unclear but likely that they will mold it much closer to the combat system of the 2018 reboot and Ragnarok. Judge also noted that there’d be new systems and new content, so it’s not just the same exact games but modernized.
This next bit of information is not at all a surprise. Only TC Carson will voice Kratos. Essentially, Carson plays young Kratos, while Judge voices old Kratos. It is not at all surprising, then, that the grizzled, older version of the god is not present in the original three games. It will be good to see the original actor take on the entirety of the work.
Judge has done incredible work, but he represents a different stage for this character. If they are going back to the beginning, it’s only right to get Carson to do it. Sometimes, it’s not possible to get the same voice actors, but he seems to be heavily involved with the production.
Finally, Judge accidentally let slip that the next Santa Monica Studio game will be announced this summer. Santa Monica is virtually responsible for the God of War games and nothing else, so this essentially confirms that the next new God of War title is being announced this year. Maybe it’s the rumored Egyptian mythology game.
Other than that, we still don’t know much about the trilogy. There’s plenty to speculate about in the coming months, as this project is still in its early stages of development. Additionally, it’s worth mentioning that Judge’s information may or may not be totally accurate. Santa Monica hasn’t confirmed any of this, so take it with a grain of salt.

Santa Monica Studio surprised everyone by dropping Sons of Sparta, a 2D sidescroller prequel to the original games, on the same day they announced the remake of the original trilogy.
