Savannah Guthrie speaks out for the first time in relation to her mother Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance. This is her first public interview since the assumed kidnapping, and is scheduled to air on the ‘TODAY’ show Thursday and Friday.

During Wednesday morning’s broadcast, the ‘TODAY’ show aired a sneak peek of the emotional interview between Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. Savannah is seen breaking down, describing the emotional turmoil her family has been through, and continues to plead for her mother’s return.
“Someone needs to do the right thing … We are in agony. … It is unbearable. And to think of what she went through,” she pleaded. “I wake up every night — in the middle of the night every night — and in the darkness I imagine her terror, and it is unthinkable, but those thoughts demand to be thought, and I will not hide my face. But she needs to come home.”
Savannah’s co-hosts acknowledged the strength it took for her to interview about her mother’s disappearance. She was honest about her faith and how it has helped her push through the dark times.
Savannah Guthrie Visits Studio
This is the first public interview Savannah Guthrie has given since her mother’s case gained national attention, but not her first public appearance back in the ‘TODAY’ show studio. She was seen visiting her co-hosts and other coworkers earlier this month, expressing how comforting it felt to be near those that know her the best.
Savannah told them she hoped to return to work soon, but did not provide a specific timeline. A spokesperson told TMZ that the Guthrie family is doing everything they can to assist the Pima County Sheriff’s Office with the investigation and bring their mother home.
Nancy Guthrie’s three children: Savannah, Annie, and Camron, have been holding onto hope that someone would come forward to explain the disappearance of their mother. Savannah has pleaded with her social media following on several occasions, even offering a $1 million reward for her mother’s return. The three released a statement over the weekend asking once more for anyone with information to share.
“We want to celebrate her beautiful and courageous life. But we cannot do that until she is brought to a final place of rest,” they said. Savannah added a message on Sunday with a post of Christ’s ascension that read “I believe, I believe.”
Disappearance of Nancy Guthrie
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on January 31, 2026, after spending the night with family. Her daughter, Annie, dropped her off at her home in Catalina Foothills around 10 p.m. Doorbell footage from later that night was recovered and showed an average white male tampering with the device and entering her home.
Nancy has not been seen since. Her family reported her missing the following afternoon after a concerned family friend said she did not show up for church service. Authorities quickly opened a missing person’s investigation, and after the footage was released, they deemed it a kidnapping.
It is being treated as if she were still alive, but the family and other officials leading the investigation have prepared themselves for the inevitable. As an elderly woman who takes daily medication to preserve her life, she may be no longer alive. As unfortunate and cruel as it already is, what is worse is that someone has her and is purposefully denying closure to the Guthrie family.
The FBI and Pima County Sheriff, Chris Nanos, have been leading the investigation, but have not prevailed with any substantial information or evidence. Forensic testing has proven unhelpful and continues to come back without any hits. The public is slowly losing hope that officials are losing momentum, and the case is about to go cold.
