The 16x All-Star, Kevin Durant, will miss Game 6 tomorrow night against the Los Angeles Lakers. This news broke this morning from ESPN’s Shams Charania on ‘Get Up.’ With the Rockets winning two straight, the series shifts back to Houston with a chance to force the two best words in sports, “Game 7.” Let’s dive into what Durant missing Game 6 means.
Durant to Miss Game 6

The Rockets have only had their usual starting five against the Lakers in one game in this series, Game 2. When KD isn’t on the court, Houston is missing out on an All-NBA caliber player. The definition of a walking bucket. The former MVP missed Game 1 with a tendon bruise and is now dealing with a bone bruise in his left ankle. He has missed five of the six games in this series, yet they’ve been in control in the past three.
What Does It Mean For Tomorrow?
It’s up to the young core again. Over the course of the regular season, the big question mark was how they meshed with KD. Now, they’ve seemed to find their roles amongst each other. Last night was the most impressive and showed the Lakers they won’t back down to a team that has one of the best players of all time. If Durant were playing, it would change the flow and gel on how their young core is playing. Does his absence tomorrow night give the Rockets a better chance to win? We’ll see.
Final Thoughts
Game 6 can not come fast enough. Sadly, it’s in sour taste because entering the postseason, this might have been the last chance we saw Kevin Durant going head-to-head against LeBron James in the playoffs. What do you make of the news about KD? Who wins tomorrow night?
