He’s Back! The New York Giants are signing wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. This news comes this afternoon as the team announced his return to the team. Now the prime days of the former first-round pick might be over, but in the right situation, he could still be a strong performer in a reduced role. Let’s address what this means for the Giants.

OBJ’s Return to the Giants

The Giants drafted Odell Beckham Jr. 12th overall back in the 2014 draft. For New York, OBJ immediately hit the floor running, literally. In his rookie season, he put up one of the best rookie seasons a wide receiver has ever had. With 1305 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 91 catches, OBJ planted his flag as the next big-time playmaker in the NFL.

He would play five total seasons with the Giants, finishing with 390 catches, 5,476 yards, and 44 touchdowns in the Big Apple. The team would trade him to the Cleveland Browns, and his career would be up and down ever since. He played his last game in 2024 with the Miami Dolphins, appearing in 9 games and catching 9 passes for 55 yards.

With a young quarterback like Jaxson Dart and Malik Nabers coming off a major injury, it doesn’t hurt to add a veteran like Odell. He’s been around the league long enough to know the ins and outs about how to carry himself, something he struggled with his first go around in New York. I think it’s a good signing, nothing that moves the needle, but it’ll be fun seeing him back with the Giants.
