In a shocking turn of events, the Boston Celtics are trading Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers! Never in my wildest dreams could I have imagined that those two teams would be discussing any type of trade. Nonetheless, for a superstar such as Brown. What did the former Finals MVP get traded for? Let’s dive into it.
Celtics Trade Jaylen Brown

Out of all the teams that were rumored to be in the Jaylen Brown sweepstakes, I never believed that Philly would be the one that would take the plunge. These two teams just had a hard-fought seven-game series in the playoffs, where the Boston would blow a 3-1 lead to the 76ers. Here are the full trade details:
Boston Celtics
- Paul George
- 2028 first-round pick (could convert to a swap,
- 2031 unprotected first-round pick
- 2028 & 2030 recond round picks
Philadelphia 76ers
- Jaylen Brown
Who Won Trade?
I love this for the 76ers. You’ve put together a team whose “Big 4” are Joel Embiid, VJ Edgecomb, Tyrese Maxey, and Brown. That is an elite core, especially in the Eastern Conference. Depending on what Philly does the rest of free agency, this puts them into the upper class of the conference.
As for the Celtics, they had to move off the 5x All-Star. It was time to split up the duo of him and Jayson Tatum. Getting Paul George and draft picks is as good as they were going to get after the market told them they were too high on the former Finals MVP.
Final Thoughts
The Celtics will take a step back next season after breaking up their dynamic duo, but they had run their course together, won a title, and were a dominant regular-season team since they’ve been together. What did you make of the trade? Are the 76ers the new team to beat in the East?
