The World Cup is over, so Christian Pulisic, Malik Tillman, and the stars we’ve come to love for the USMNT are going to go back to their respective clubs for a while. But the transfer market should bring new homes to plenty of players. Transfers can happen at any time right now, with the deadline looming later this summer for plenty of leagues.
Right now, with the Americans out of the World Cup, the remaining days of the tournament will be spent returning to their clubs and preparing to resume play. Could some of them be changing teams? Rumors abound for Pulisic, Folarin Balogun, and more. Here’s what you need to know.
Christian Pulisic Transfer Rumors

It’s no secret that before the World Cup, Christian Pulisic was out of form for AC Milan. He spent the end of last year in top form as one of Serie A’s best players, but he went all the way to a pre-WC friendly before he scored a goal in the calendar year 2026. He struggled in the World Cup, too.
Despite that, while AC Milan is undergoing some major changes in the coaching staff and leadership, they maintain that the American winger is not for sale. That hasn’t stopped rumors from swirling. Primarily, the biggest rumor is that New York City FC in the MLS is prepared to offer him a $10 million annual fee to come over.
That is unlikely to happen. He’s still very much in his prime, so a move to the MLS would be premature and probably bad for his development as a player, even if he is 27 and doesn’t have much more developing to do. Staying at Milan would be better, but there are some English clubs on the prowl, too.
Rumors suggest Arsenal and Manchester United are interested, too. Tottenham has also been thrown into the mix, and the rumored cost is 70m-80m euros (£61m-£70m). He’s also one of six forwards on Liverpool’s shortlist to replace Mo Salah. Pulisic played briefly in the Premier League for Chelsea.
Folarin Balogun Transfer Rumors
Folarin Balogun already stars for AS Monaco, but his World Cup, the international incident with his controversial red card notwithstanding, put him firmly on the radar of even bigger clubs. The USMNT striker is expected to be a hot commodity.
Unsurprisingly, top clubs are hovering, and it seems that Monaco would be amenable to a move if the price is right. Per ESPN, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested. Monaco has already come up with a list of possible replacements for Balogun and has submitted a €15 million bid to sign Matthis Abline.
Malik Tillman Transfer Rumors
No one did more to raise their stock than Malik Tillman. Folarin Balogun was maybe the better player, but he was more well-known. The Bayer Leverkusen star really broke out with excellent midfield play and two monumental free kicks, one to seal it a man down versus Bosnia and the other to briefly provide hope and tie the score versus Belgium.
Like many others, an English club is circling Tillman now. A recent report suggests Liverpool is in the mix for the Bundesliga and USMNT star. With how he played at the World Cup, his price may have surged. Could Liverpool swoop in and pair up Christian Pulisic and Tillman? Fulham and Brentford are also mentioned as having interest.
Tyler Adams Rumors
Tyler Adams, the ever-consistent midfielder, is also drawing strong interest. He didn’t stand out greatly in this World Cup, but as a defensive midfielder, it’s probably for the best that he didn’t get much attention. It means he did his job for the USMNT.
Adams currently plays for AFC Bournemouth. Other English clubs loom, including Chelsea and Manchester United. Man U is particularly interested, as he has reportedly made their shortlist of potential additions. It doesn’t appear that Adams will be leaving England based on these rumors.
Sebastian Berhalter MLS Exit
With limited playing time, Sebastian Berhalter made a name for himself. Getting the start in a meaningless game versus Turkiye, Berhalter had a goal and an assist. His goal was a ridiculous shot, and he came off the bench against Belgium to nearly score from range and was the only player still playing hard at that point in the match.
As a result, he is highly likely to leave the MLS, where he’s played for the Vancouver Whitecaps. His contract ends on December 31, but he can negotiate before then. The USMNT midfielder has interest from Derby County, Watford, and Real Valladolid.
Sergino Dest Transfer Rumors

Sergino Dest, his abysmal, substitution-necessitating play in the first half versus Belgium notwithstanding, had a pretty solid tournament. Mauricio Pochettino seemed to understand how perfectly to use him, but even before that, the wingback had interest from some big clubs.
Currently with PSV Eindhoven, Dest may end up with Bayern Munich. The latest report from ESPN states, “Bayern Munich are looking at signing PSV Eindhoven and USMNT fullback Sergino Dest, according to Eindhovens Dagblad.” Dest is currently with Eindhoven after transferring from FC Barcelona.
Other Rumors
Here are some of the other rumors persisting around USMNT stars:
- Fulham star Antonee Robinson is a target for Manchester United
- Ricardo Pepi is expected to remain with PSV Eindhoven
- Chris Richards is interested in a new contract with Crystal Palace
- Before the World Cup finale for him, Matt Freese reportedly had interest from English clubs
Much of this will amount to nothing, but don’t be surprised to see some of the stars move around here in the next few weeks.
