Jared Leto

Four women have accused actor and musician Jared Leto of criminal sexual conduct, saying they were all teenagers at the time of their sexual encounters, including three who were underage. The BBC spoke with multiple women for a new documentary and published their story on Wednesday, July 29, 2026.

Underage Victim

BBC reported that one woman alleged she was 17 when she had sex with Leto at his California home, which would be considered statutory rape if confirmed since the state’s age of consent is 18. According to the alleged victim, the now 54-year-old Suicide Squad Joker “shrugged off” the conversation.

“It wasn’t a huge concern for him,” she told the outlet. “He told me, ‘I would like you to call me daddy.’ And it was either pretend to be a little girl or ‘my little girl.’

It was only as time went on that I [realized] more and more how scary that really was,” she added, noting that the incident happened during her first visit out of the three or four she made to the actor’s home.

Motel Room Assaults

Another woman, who also says she was 17 at the time, was sexually assaulted in a hotel bathroom by Leto. A third woman also said the actor threatened her with sexual assault when she was left alone with him in a hotel room when she was 19.

The then 17-year-old said the alleged motel bathroom incident occurred in 2002 when Leto invited her to his motel after showing him and his friend around a Las Vegas store. She claimed that he called her into the bathroom while he was showering and came onto her.

I don’t think there was many words exchanged, and he opened the shower curtain and started kissing me,” the woman said in BBC’s new documentary: Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret. She said after kissing her, Leto took her hand to use it to masturbate himself.

Explicit Phone Calls to Underage Girls

The fourth woman alleged she was groomed by Leto when she was 16 and that he made repeated sexually explicit phone calls to her. Leto allegedly suggested on one occasion they should have sex. He then sent an NDA to her to keep her from discussing their relationship, but the victim refused to sign it.

Four other women also claimed to have received “strange” and sexual phone calls from the Oscar winner when they were teenagers. At the time of the BBC’s published article, Leto had not responded to their request for a statement about the allegations.

I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life. These claims are absolutely and categorically false,” Leto told PEOPLE in a statement on July 29.

BBC Documentary on Jared Leto

The BBC’s new documentary is scheduled to air on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, and features 10 women who spoke about their encounters with Leto, nine of whom are sharing their stories for the first time with the public. All alleged encounters are said to have taken place between 2002 and 2016.

The BBC says they “corroborated a number of the women’s accounts with friends and family who were told about the encounters with Leto at the time. In some cases, we have also seen pictures and messages that support the women’s accounts.

Past Allegations

In June 2025, multiple women accused Leto of sexual misconduct. Nine women, some of whom were underage at the time of their encounters, were interviewed by Air Mail and claimed that the actor behaved inappropriately towards them. The allegations ranged from sexual questioning to exposing himself and masturbating in front of the girls.

Leto denied all allegations and continues to deny them to this day, going as far as to say they are “demonstrably false.
