An Illinois man died on Monday, September 7, 2026, after being pushed from a moving train in Chicago. Kyle Bickham, 29, was on his way home from his shift at an Amazon warehouse in Cicero, Illinois, in the early afternoon when a group of three allegedly “used force” to push him from a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) train.

Man Pushed From Chicago Train

A 15-year-old girl has been arrested and charged in connection with the unsuspecting death of Bickham, the Chicago Police Department (CPD) said. The teen’s identity has not been revealed, but she was charged with five felony counts of first-degree murder, mob action, aggravated battery, and two counts of murder by other forcible felony. 

According to Bickham’s family, he was traveling home on the CTA Red Line train around 2:30 p.m. local time when the suspects approached him. Authorities said that Bickham was boarding the train near the 69th Street station when he got into an altercation with three individuals. 

He was allegedly pushed from the train and died after falling on the electrified third rail and being struck by another train. 

Tracking Down The Suspects

Authorities quickly ruled his death a homicide, and former Chicago Police First Deputy Superintendent Anthony Riccio said they are using surveillance footage to capture all of those involved.

“The camera system on the CTA is really second to none,” Riccio said. “Those cameras have really been invaluable in identifying and ultimately tracking down individuals responsible for crime on the CTA.”

The Chicago police have not shared whether they have identified the other two suspects or have them in custody, but if not, they will soon, since they can use the extensive camera system to see where they went after.

“They’ll be able to see who was on that train. They can also track who was on the train from points of entry, from Ventra cards, things of that nature. They’ll be able to know who was on that train, and they’ll track them down and interview them as well,” he said.

A Grieving Family

Bickham’s family was at a loss when they found out their loved one was killed. They said they did not know who could have done it, noting that the victim was hardworking, thoughtful, and caring. They said he worked overtime at Amazon to build a promising future.

“He loved writing poetry. He loved us. He loved both of his nieces, his brothers, his sister,” Bickham’s father, Christopher Bickham Sr., told ABC7 Chicago. “He just was an all-around caring guy,” adding that this is “the most hurtful thing that has ever happened.”

“He was just trying to make an honest day’s living, and this is what happened,” the victim’s mother, Latanya Bickham, said.

Bickham was one of four siblings and is remembered as a shining light who always tried to make those around him happy. “He’s full of love,” his grandmother, Bertha Ford, said. 

“He always expressed [his love], even to me. If he didn’t have a phone, he gonna make a way to call me to say, ‘Granny, you know I love you so much,’ ” Ford said. “He always reached out to me to say, ‘Granny? You know God got you. And I love you so much.’ ”

Wondering What Happened

In addition to grieving the loss of a loved one, Bickham’s family is questioning the circumstances surrounding the incident, wondering why it happened because the victim supposedly had no connection to the alleged killers. “If you’re that evil, to open a door and throw somebody — a live person — out, what’s wrong with you?” Ford questioned. “This guy was so kind.”

They also questioned what security or safety measures are in place for passengers. If this could have easily happened, then what is stopping it from happening again? “Once you step on that platform, what kind of security do you have?” Latayna asked.

“They took happiness. They took sunshine. They just took the world from me,” Christopher added. “They hurt us. They hurt me. They hurt my wife. They hurt my kids. They hurt our family.”

The family, along with the Chicago police, is asking anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward. “If you see something, say something. If you know who did this, please just call the police and help us. I need some type of closure,” Christopher said. “They took away some greatness from us.”
