What a roller coaster ride of emotions this Wild Card series has already given us. The Philadelphia Phillies had their backs against the wall in a do or die game this afternoon against the Atlanta Braves. From superstars having blunders in the outfield to redemption an inning later, this game was electric. Let’s get into it!
Phillies Herculean Comeback

Both teams would get runs off each other’s starters to begin the game, Christopher Sanchez and Tyler Mahle. After that, there wasn’t much scoring. The Phillies were getting hits however, they weren’t amounting to much. Entering the bottom of the 7th inning, Drake Baldwin would hit a 1-run double, off Bryce Harpers’ blunder in the outfield, and Matt Olsen would add a sac fly to lead Philly 3-1 after 7.
Just as Harper needed a bit of redemption after his mishap, Kyle Schwarber and Harper would hit back-to back homers to start the 8th inning. Tied at 3, we would see this matchup going to extra innings. It would be third baseman Alec Bohm who would hit the game-winning home run with two outs in the 10th to force Game 3 tomorrow. Talk about the Phillies having some late game heroics of their own.
Final Thoughts
It is too early for the starting pitchers for tomorrow’s do-or-die game. One team will be heading home, while the other will be heading to take on the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday! Who do you think advances to the NLDS tomorrow?
