The Seattle Seahawks have some breaking news this afternoon. Their quarterback, Sam Darnold, has been ruled out for this upcoming divisional matchup against the Arizona Cardinals. Some believe this could be a blessing in disguise. Let’s dive into the injury and what it means for the defending Super Bowl champions.
Sam Darnold’s Injury
The Seattle Seahawks season is becoming a season from hell. Coming off a dominant season, they appeared to contend for back to back titles. During their Week 8 loss to the Chicago Bears, Darnold suffered a quad injury and was ruled out this afternoon. That means that Drew Lock will be making his second start of the Seahawks’ season.
What This Means For the Seahawks
With Lock under center this weekend. He has already started against the Cardinals this year, back in Week 2. He was excellent with 235 passing yards, 19/26 completions, a passer rating of 139.1, and 3 touchdowns. With the success he had the first time and with this game being at home, I expect him to have great success once again. Will it be as productive as last time? Probably not, but I expect a win.
Final Thoughts
If they were facing a stronger opponent, this could be a difficult spot. However, with it being at home against a team Lock already played, this should be a win. Now, the severity of Darnold’s injury hasn’t been disclosed, but if it’s something that’s week-to-week, it shouldn’t be too bad. What were your initial thoughts on the injury, and is this a blessing in disguise?
