r truth

On Sunday, Ron Killings, known in the wrestling world as WWE’s R Truth, went to social media to deliver a message that the company had released him. Fans were initially shocked by the announcement, thinking Truth was confused about a possible belated April Fool’s Day prank. The tweet gained significant momentum, trending for most of the day. Fans, reputable sites, and other wrestlers started to thank Killings for his contributions and memories. But what if we, as fans, aren’t being told the whole truth (pun intended)? Could this be the ultimate swerve? Could this be a work? And if it is a work where could the storyline go?

This R Truth Storyline Could Be Brilliant

As a society, we find ourselves in a time and place where social media and instant access are king. WWE is no different. In recent years, WWE superstars and other wrestlers have been utilizing social media platforms not only to build their brand but also to advance storylines. So why can’t R Truth’s tweet about being released be the same? To catch everyone up to speed, he has been in a program with the “Never seen seventeen-time champion,” John Cena. Cena has been on his first heel run in his farewell tour from wrestling.

So you may be asking yourself, “How is this relevant or where is he going with this?” Don’t worry, it will all make sense soon! Cena made a promise to the WWE Universe that he would do everything in his power to ruin the wrestling business. His most recent match was against his number one fan. Truth went on to fight his childhood hero and came up short at Saturday Night’s Main Event. We all know that Ron Killings has provided the comic relief more times than not in his WWE tenure.

Could this be Cena’s next ploy to ruin wrestling? Think about it! He defeats someone who had been looking up to him his whole life. Knowing the WWE Universe adores Truth, he gets “released,” but could he come back? Could he follow his childhood hero’s footsteps? What if he comes back to help Cena at some point to retain his championship? Instead of a comedic R Truth, we see a more serious, intense Ron Killings. Once again, Cena is ruining something the fans love. This could play out to be one of the greatest swerves of all time.

R Truth’s Career Accolades

Other than R Truth’s hilarious segments and being John Cena’s number one fan, he has had incredible longevity and a noteworthy career. We all remember when he entered the Women’s Royal Rumble match, only to be eliminated by Nia Jax after looking confused. He was an unofficial member of the Judgement Day, and fans tuned in every week to see his shenanigans.

Truth was able to capture the ridiculous 24/7 championship a record 53 times. He is a three-time Tag Team Champion, teaming up with Kofi Kingston and, more notably, forming the Awesome Truth with The Miz. He is also a two-time Slammy Winner, United States Champion, and Hardcore Champion.

Final Thoughts

I really hope this is a work! Ron Killings has been one of the most entertaining superstars in WWE history. Truth proves that wins and losses don’t matter in professional wrestling. The guy has more memorable moments outside of the ring than most wrestlers do inside the ring. It is known as sports entertainment for a reason. Mr. Killings and Little Jimmy are the epitome of sports entertainment. If this is the last time we see R Truth in the WWE, which is hard to grasp, we thank you for entertaining us throughout the years! And just for you, that’s what’s up!
