WrestleMania 41 has possibly the greatest WrestleMania card ever assembled. And there is no bigger match than Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena. Cena will challenge for the WWE Title and, with a victory, become the record-breaking 17-time champion! Cena would surpass the “Nature Boy” Ric Flair as the most recognized title reigns in WWE history. Rhodes won the title at WrestleMania 40, defying all odds, ending the longest title reign in modern wrestling history. Cody finished his story, but this year, does the story come to an end? John Cena’s recent alliance with The Rock may be Cody’s demise.
John Cena Looks To Become 17-Time Champion
Everybody knows the former Dr. of Thuganomics is on his farewell tour from the WWE. He entered the Royal Rumble to try to punch his ticket to his last WrestleMania. The man “you can’t see” was the runner-up in the Rumble, being the final elimination by the winner, Jey Uso. Cena then had to find a new road to Las Vegas. He entered the Elimination Chamber and ultimately won, allowing him to challenge Cody Rhodes at Mania. Shortly after winning the match, the cinema began!
After the Elimination Chamber match, Cody Rhodes would have a decision to make. Was he going to sell his soul to The Rock and become his champion or stick with the people? As Rhodes stared The Rock in the face, he told him, “F*** no!” At this time, while embracing a hug from John Cena, the world was flipped upside down! And no, it was the beginning of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. The unthinkable happened! John Cena, Mr “Hustle, Loyalty, and Respect,” turned on the fans that supported him all those years.
In the following weeks, he would explain why he did what he did. The promos between Rhodes and Cena leading up to their clash at WrestleMania 41 were nothing short of amazing. Between Cena telling Cody the title is too heavy for him to carry, and Cody telling Cena he looks like Sting at Starcade ’97. The buildup has the makings of not only a great match but a great story.
Final Thoughts and Prediction
The only issue I have with this angle is Cena blaming the fans. Don’t get me wrong, his promos have been good and entertaining. But why not take the angle of greed? Every athlete is competitive enough to want to be the best in their respective sport. Why wouldn’t the GOAT of professional wrestling admit to being selfish? He could have admitted that he selfishly joined The Rock to make wrestling history. He could’ve said that he would do anything, including selling his soul for wrestling immortality, to cement his place in history!
The GOAT of professional wrestling, John Cena, will become the 17-time champion on Night Two of WrestleMania 41. The interesting thing is who will get involved. The Rock is rumored to be in Las Vegas and to appear at the grandest stage of them all. Will Rhodes have anyone watching his back? Last year, we saw a bunch of run-ins as we saw the American Nightmare end the Tribal Chief’s reign of terror. WrestleMania 41 should be the home of the greatest wrestling moment in the history of wrestling. John Cena breaks Ric Flair’s record and we all witness history!
What will happen next after WrestleMania on the John Cena farewell tour? Who will be his opponents? Maybe an old rival in Randy Orton? Maybe a new face like Gunther? Maybe it’s GOAT vs Best in the World one more time? Does he ultimately square off against The Rock? Or the Tribal Chief? Maybe he gets an eerie return from a family member who profitsized all of this in Uncle Howdy? Only time will tell because his last time is here!
