It’s NASCAR Sunday, fans! Today’s race will be at Pocono, and Denny Hamlin will be on the pole position. Hamlin placed above Chris Buescher (second place) with a lap of 52.144 seconds, placing him at the front of the starting lineup for today. There definitely were some eventful moments during qualifying, from cars not starting to major crashes, which have shaken up today’s lineup quite a bit!
Today’s NASCAR Cup Series race will be at Pocono Raceway, and the weather is looming already with a possible impact on the start time. Currently, the start time is 2 p.m. ET, and due to thunderstorms, the Fan Stage and Victory Lane Stage Q&A Sessions have been canceled. Today’s track is known as “The Tricky Triangle,” and one driver has had seven career victories at this specific location! That would be none other than Hamlin, and while this is not his hometown, he seems to maneuver Pocono better than others, for sure!
Pocono is a 2.5-mile tri-oval track and has three extremely different turns, each having a different degree. Turn One is banked at 14 degrees, while Turn Two is banked at eight degrees. Turn Three banks in at at six degrees – so you can understand why Pocono is known as “The Tricky Triangle.” Last week, NASCAR had another interesting track while in Mexico, so we have two weeks of high trill racing! Let’s check out today’s lineup:
