Victory Lane belongs to Denny Hamlin as today’s NASCAR Cup Series comes to an end. Today has been full of caution flags, accidents, and even a red flag! Stage 1 flew by with very little to it – zero accidents and zero cautions. While Chris Buescher snuck up and stole first place in the first stage, William Byron made sure Stage 2 was his. Byron came in second by just a pinch, and he had zero hesitation in owning the next stage. However, the second stage brought some real drama to the track.

Stage 2 was full of caution flags, with several restarts and even a red flag! Noah Gragson and John Hunter Nemechek both spun out during this stage. Both drivers returned to the track shortly after. Later, a three-car wreck put Alex Bowman in an ambulance. The whole race, Byron was like a dog with a bone, refusing to let go. Hamlin rolled into Victory Lane after quite a race!

Victory Lane & Official Final Placements

During the last ten laps, all eyes were on Denny Hamlin and Byron. They both stayed right on top of each other, with Byron swiping in front with dangerously close range time after time. Byron ran out of gas at the last minute of today’s race, unfortunately. This gave not only Hamlin but several other drives the chance to surge forward. This is the seventh straight season that Hamlin has had multiple victories. The fans were loud and proud when he got out of his car at the end of the race.

Hamlin apologized to his father at the end of the race, saying he “beat his favorite driver.” When asked which driver that was, Hamlin smoothly replied, “All of them.” Today’s win makes six wins for Joe Gibbs Racing. While other NASCAR drivers didn’t make it to Victory Lane, there sure were some excellent placements! Let’s take a deeper look at the final winning positions for today’s NASCAR Cup Series race:

From Brooklyn to Mexico City
