Raising Cane’s CEO Todd Graves is no stranger to charitable endeavors. The businessman and co-founder of one of the most successful chicken chain restaurants in America gives frequently. Just last year, he donated to install an artificial reef to support local aquatic life and the fishing scene in Louisiana. He gave away toys in New York City for Christmas.
Now, Graves is back at it, but on a much more somber note. Floods have ravaged Texas, which is the neighbor state to Graves’ hometown and the origin of Cane’s. The American Red Cross is currently on the ground in Texas providing aid, and Graves has pitched in $1 million to support the relief effort across the Texas Hill Country.
Raising Cane’s Co-Founder Todd Graves Helps Texas Amid Flooding
Another summer has arrived and brought with it some sort of natural disaster for the southern portion of the United States. Last year, it was Hurricanes in Florida and North Carolina. This year, it’s flooding in Texas. The death toll has passed 100 people, and almost 200 people were at one point missing as a result. It may be a long time before everything is tallied up fully, with death tolls rising since the initial incident over the weekend.
“Our hearts break as we witness the devastating impact of the flooding in Kerrville and the surrounding Communities. We’re deeply saddened by the lives impacted and the loved ones lost, and our hearts and prayers go out to everyone impacted,” said Raising Cane’s CEO, Todd Graves, in a statement provided to New Leaf News. “We’re sending prayers and strength to everyone impacted by this disaster and are grateful for the heroic efforts of first responders and organizations like the American Red Cross for providing critical support and aid to those in need.”
Graves has opened over 200 restaurants across Texas. As a result, Graves and the state have a strong relationship, as the communities have grown together along with the restaurant. The company vows to provide relief and support not only now but in the coming weeks and months as the ongoing effort continues.
Two days ago, Texas Governor Greg Abbott reminded everyone that the threat is still present. “The State of Texas is working around the clock to support emergency management personnel and local officials as they continue recovery and rescue operations across the state,” Governor Abbott said per the Texas government’s website. “There is still a threat of heavy rain with the potential to cause flooding in the Central Texas, Hill Country, Big Country, and Concho Valley regions. Texans are urged to remain weather aware, heed the guidance of local officials, and regularly monitor weather forecasts. Texas will remain engaged until every missing person is found and every Texan recovers from this disaster.”
While the immediate disaster might have passed, the state is not out of the woods just yet, as thunderstorms persist into this week. Furthermore, relief and cleanup from such a devastating event can take a long time. Parts of the Hurricane Helene path are only now getting back to normal. For this reason and many more, Raising Cane’s has made a huge, committed effort to support with a major financial donation.
Conclusion
Raising Cane’s CEO Todd Graves frequently gives back to communities. It’s not often one that’s so close to where the restaurant’s rise began and in such turmoil, but these are the types of charitable efforts that make the most lasting impact. It is not the first time the brand known for its chicken tenders has pitched in to help and it certainly won’t be the last time.
