Kennedy

You have to hand it to Robert F. Kennedy Jr. (RFK Jr.). He has never met a vaccine that he likes. It wouldn’t be so bad if he were still just your average Joe or Jill on the street. Unfortunately, now he is the worm-brained, bear-killing, Hamiltan copycat, unqualified United States secretary of Health and Human Services.

Overall, the Kennedy family is a pretty smart bunch, but RFK Jr. must have sneezed when they passed out brains. President Trump has some real doozies for cabinet officers such as Sneaky Pete Hegseth, Kristi Rolex Noem, Linda Turnbuckle McMahon, and Pam (did someone say Epstein) Bondi. But Mr. Kennedy might be in class all of his own.

Kennedy’s Longshot Confirmation?

Of course, Kennedy has always been a rich, kooky anti-vaxxer who espoused a lot of crazy theories that no one took too seriously until he decided to worship at the Shrine of MAGA. Even then, people thought, well, Trump won’t get re-elected anyway, so RFK Jr. will just crawl back into the woodpile he came from. But Trump did win the election.

The line of thinking then turned to, well, maybe the Donald names him as a special assistant to the president or some other non-cabinet administrative post. And once again, Trump fooled everyone and nominated him as his choice for HHS secretary. Finally, you’re thinking, no way this guy gets confirmed. Both Democrats and Republicans believe the guy is a total moron and unqualified for the position.

And once again, we were all fooled. The Republican senators who fearfully worship the president were not allowed to let him down. So, despite opposition from 75 Nobel Laureates, 17,000 doctors, and more than 80 organizations, the Senate voted 52-48 to confirm Kennedy as the secretary of Health and Human Services. The only Republican senator to vote against his confirmation was Mitch McConnell (KY), a polio survivor. Oh my God!

RFK Jr.’s Hatred of Vaccines

Kennedy’s long-standing distrust of vaccines has already brought harm to the country. In the spring, when an outbreak of measles was ravaging a largely unvaccinated West Texas Mennonite community, RFK Jr. sent mixed messages regarding who should be vaccinated in an effort to prevent the spread of the disease. His reticence during this outbreak contributed to the 762 measles infections reported in Texas, including the deaths of two unvaccinated children.

Now, Mr. Kennedy is focusing his attention on mRNA vaccines. These vaccinations have provided immunity to folks worldwide for viruses ranging from rabies to Ebola to COVID-19. There have been some side effects reported that are linked to these vaccines, but rarely have they been serious, including no increased risk to pregnant women or their children.

So, RFK Jr., in his infinite wisdom, announced that he is terminating funding for 22 mRNA research projects to the tune of $500 million. This reckless decision will eliminate future U.S. research in this area. So, research into a vaccine that has proven to be safe and effectively used for a variety of health issues will end abruptly. That includes research that Moderna has been working on to develop an mRNA-based bird flu vaccine.

Menace

Kennedy was raised in a liberal, educated household with a father who had great capacity to feel the pain of others. Bobby Kennedy was a politician who brought great hope to so many people. However, RFK Jr. presents a menace to the health and well-being of all Americans. I do not think that Trump cares what his HHS secretary says or does, except if the White House has to answer for it.

The president’s interest in Mr Kennedy and his actions stems from the fact that he views him as a disruptor, and his escapades distract the press and the public away from some of Trump’s more draconian actions and decisions. It allows him and his henchmen to continue unabated in their quest for a new world order. A new world order that puts U.S. citizens’ health and well-being in peril.
