It’s been a while, but Fallout was one of the most pleasant surprises of the television slate in 2024, dropping to fan and critical acclaim on Amazon Prime. It was another really high-quality video game adaptation that helped to reverse the trend of poor ones that used to be so prevalent. Naturally, the climactic ending teased more from Bethesda’s universe, and it’s set to arrive this year. In advance of that, we finally have a first set of pictures from the second season.
Fallout Season 2 Drops Pictures Ahead of Opening Night Live
On Tuesday, Opening Night Live will showcase some of the best of the video game space, including seven games and a live performance of music from Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. But perhaps the big standout is a first real look at Fallout Season 2 (aside from the brief glimpse at the end of Season 1). Ahead of that, we’ve been gifted several images from the show itself, setting the table for what’s to come and stoking the flames of anticipation that have been growing since last year.
The official Fallout X account posted seven images from Season 2 with a cleverly New Vegas-themed caption. In the images, we can see several different pieces of the new narrative. We see The Ghoul and Lucy in the barren wasteland, seemingly arguing. We get another look at Max with some Power Armor and other members of The Brotherhood.
Cooper Howard also shows up at a pre-apocalypse Las Vegas, showcasing that there will be plenty of flashbacks once again in this season, further expanding on the lore and the history of Howard and others. There’s also another look at Overseer Hank, this time with a suit on instead of his vault-dweller attire fidgeting with a Pipboy. This also appears to be in the past, though it might also be in the future and on the surface rather than in a vault.
There are a couple more showcasing Howard at a party, Lucy gazing at someone (probably The Ghoul), and Norm MacLean, Lucy’s brother and Hank’s son, with other vault-dwellers. These don’t give much insight, but it’s still so exciting to see new things from Fallout.
It also appears that Mr. House, a prominent character from Fallout: New Vegas, is set to be involved. He was briefly seen in the first season of the TV show as well. We can also expect to see Hank in Power Armor, and he may join Mr. House in rebuilding and restoring New Vegas. The television show is set 15 years after the events of New Vegas in the Fallout universe (it’s also nine years after the fourth game).
Reportedly, the show will have a third season that’s being worked on. However, Max actor Aaron Moten revealed recently that the true end of the show involves a fifth or sixth season, so we could be in for a whole lot more content down the line. For now, the Amazon Prime show seems to be the franchise’s focus, as 76 is still going, but there’s nothing on the immediate horizon for the games. A fifth title is expected sometime in the early 2030s.

Fallout is a great video game adaptation, but it’s also a fantastic television show outside of its source material. It functions as a perfect example of how to make something for fans of the games while making it entirely accessible to those who’ve never picked up a controller. Season 1 was full of mystery and intrigue, so it will be interesting to see what Amazon Prime’s Season 2 brings to the table now that some of the air has been cleared.
