The Philadelphia Eagles may have saved their season with their latest performance. We finally saw their passing game explode. Following a two-game losing streak, including a 17-point loss to the New York Giants, the rumblings began. The rumblings as if their season was over. We saw this franchise flying high after a nice win on the road. Let’s dive into the Eagles’ dominant offensive performance over the weekend.
Jalen Hurts’ Best Reg Season Performance?
Heading into the weekend, I was skeptical about how Hurts would perform against a vaunted Minnesota Vikings‘ defense. He had struggled throughout the season when under pressure, especially against the blitz. Now, Minnesota entered the weekend as the most “blitz happy” defense in the NFL and was top ten in many categories, including points allowed per game, passing yards allowed per game, offensive touchdowns allowed, sacks, and allowing the fewest “big time throws.”
For many people, the Eagles and roster’s weakness was the QB, and it was magnified by the plays he hadn’t made during their two-game losing streak. How did Hurts look on Sunday? He was nothing short of sensational in completing 19 of his 23 passes for 326 yards and three touchdowns. That was Hurts’ first time throwing for more than 300 yards since September 22nd, 2024, vs the New Orleans Saints. In terms of “big time throws,” he completed six of seven passes more than 20 yards down the field.
Best WR Tandum?

The Eagles’ top two receivers had a good weekend. it is difficult to argue that another team has a better top two. DeVonta Smith set a career high with 183 yards on nine catches and scored a 79-yard touchdown. His partner in crime, AJ Brown, was just as dominant with 121 yards on four catches and two touchdowns. When your top two pass catchers are feasting and putting up numbers like that, you will be nearly impossible to beat.
What’s Up with the Running Game?

We have seen the Eagles’ rushing attack struggle this season. Last year, this team was second in the NFL, averaging 179 rushing yards per game. In 2025, they are ranked 30th in the league at 88 yards per game, only ahead of the Tennessee Titans and Cincinnati Bengals.
Saquon Barkley has yet to break through for 100 yards from scrimmage in the team’s first seven games. It is impossible to replicate the MVP-esque campaign Barkley had last year, given the amount of touches he had. However, with his talent, he should have surpassed 100 scrimmage yards in at least one game by now.
With that being said, the offensive line is not as good as it was during their Super Bowl run, however, it is still in the upper echelon in the NFL. This is the second instance where there’s been turnover in terms of playcalling that has led to questions about it.
When they made the Super Bowl in 2023, Shane Steichen was their offensive coordinator, then left to be the Colts‘ head coach. The following year, the offense took a step back. Last season, Kellen Moore was the OC and left this offseason to take the HC position with the Saints; since then, the running game has been in shambles.
Fly Eagles Fly or Cry Eagles Cry?
What does the win over the Vikings mean in the short term? It gets the sour taste of losing out of the Eagles’ mouths and gets them back on track. If they had come out last week and appeared to be crumbling before our very eyes for the third straight week, you could have chalked up their Super Bowl defense right then and there. It also would have left the door open for the Dallas Cowboys in the NFC East race.
They are hosting the New York Giants, who just ran through them two weeks prior, 34-17. In the long term, there is too much talent on this roster to play bad for long stretches of games. That doesn’t mean they can’t have bad drives, quarters, or halves. We know this is one of the best teams that, when clicking can be a well-oiled machine, and when it’s not, well, they leave fans scratching their heads.
Final Thoughts
I expect the Philadelphia Eagles to dominate the New York Giants this weekend. When you are embarrassed by your division rival, you want to make a statement in the rematch. The biggest reason why this game will be different is Jalen Carter. He missed the game two weeks ago, which led to Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo dominating. Philly flies high with a big win at home this week. Book it!
