Jeffrey Garcia, the eccentric voice behind Jimmy Neutron’s Sheen Estevez, has tragically died at age 50. His son, comedian Joseph “Jojo” Garcia, shared the news on Instagram around 2 pm on Dec. 10. Throughout 2025, Garcia was admitted three times to the hospital. The Latin American voice star suffered from a collapsed lung on Dec. 9th and died hours later, surrounded by his family and friends.
A Naturally Gifted Comedian
In 1991, Garcia began his comedic career. At 15, he entered an amateur comedian competition at a local Los Angeles club. That very night defined the Californian native’s performance style. His street-smart, sarcastic, and edgy jokes landed him a second-place finish, adding 50 dollars to his pocket. HBO later that year selected him to appear in the first episode of the Latin American night comedy show, Loco Slam.
From then on, Garcia participated and performed at multiple Southern California comedy clubs. He was a well-known Laugh Factory member and was an active community celebrity in his hometown, Irvine. His Improv bio states that he made 12 television appearances, including NBC’s Friday Night Videos and Vibe with Sinbad, showcasing his comedic arts.
The Childhood Hero, Sheen Estevez
To 2000s Nickelodeon viewers, Garcia will always be Jimmy Neutron’s Sheen Estevez. Sheen was one of Jimmy’s best friends, and he carried an immense crush on Cindy Vortex’s friend, Libby Folfax. Garcia permanently personified his chaotic nature as the Ultralord fanboy. His character acts as a wildcard, whether he stirs trouble using Jimmy’s inventions or when he would transform into the ultimate defender.
Viewers first heard Garcia’s iconic voice in the 2001 Nickelodeon film, Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius. Kids and adult audiences enjoyed his comic relief, especially when he gets outsmarted by Cindy to open a rare Ultralord collector’s box. Many later grew fond of Sheen in the show, The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron. He would soon have his spin-off cartoon, Planet Sheen, where he takes the boy genius’s prototype rocket and gets stranded on an alien planet.
Animation studio DNA Productions recruited Garcia again to voice Pip the Mouse in Nickelodeon’s Barnyard. He co-starred with comedian and film star Kevin James, who voiced Otis the Cow. After 2006, the Latin voice actor took supporting roles in other animated films and video games. One of his best supporting roles was as Amigo member Rinaldo in Warner Bros.’ Happy Feet duology.
Jeffrey Garcia’s Health Decline in 2025
According to TMZ, their trusted sources informed them that Garcia suffered from a brain aneurysm in the spring of 2025. While he did recover, he suffered a stroke several weeks later. The late comedian canceled multiple shows due to his health issues. He believed that hospitalization wasn’t necessary and that he just needed to rest at home.
Jojo and other Garcia family members later broke the news of his Nov. 20 hospital visit on Dec. 9. He was admitted for pneumonia and was discharged within days. Garcia was quickly rushed back for a third time when he was experiencing breathing issues that soon led to a collapsed lung. Family members gathered to see him one final time while on life support. He quietly passed away the next day.
Jeffery Garcia’s Legacy Lives On
Jimmy Neutron voice actors Rob Paulsen (Carl Wheezer) and Debbie Derryberry (Jimmy Neutron) were devastated to hear one of their favorite co-stars had left the world in excruciating pain.
Derryberry told on Instagram, “We were all together just a few months ago at a convention. [Jeffrey Garcia] was always the funniest man in the room. We’re gonna miss you.” Paulsen commented on Facebook, “Jeffery Garcia has left Planet Sheen. We love you, our brother. Keep’em laughing, wherever you are.”
Jojo wrote a goodbye speech to the man who inspired his comedic career. He said to his father, “[Jeffrey Garcia] was unapologetically himself, and I will always admire the love, compassion, and drive that he had. He taught me so much and gave me advice that I lived by every single day. […] I would tell him about the plans in comedy and my life. He believed in me, in a way nobody else did. The talent my father possessed was truly one of a kind.”
