NBA, Atlanta Hawks, Trae Young

Trae Young’s time in Atlanta has come to an end. The 4x All-Star has been traded to the Washington Wizards in exchange for CJ McCollum and Corey Kispert. The team has been in contact with his agent to facilitate a trade over the past few days. Let’s dive into what led to this move and who won the trade.

Hawks Close Chapter On Trae Young

With tensions rising between the Hawks and Young, and the team essentially moving on from him, as younger players such as Zacchaire Risacher and Jalen Johnson have begun to emerge as high-end players in the NBA. He will be remembered as an electric player who was part of one of the most “even” trades in league history, involving Luka Dončić on NBA Draft Night.

Who Won The Trade?

The Atlanta Hawks are receiving Kispert and McCollum, which is a haul. They will help open up the floor and give their young stars room to continue developing with the ball in their hands. While the Wizards have their star. The dynamic duo between ‘Ice Trae” and Alex Sarr has the potential to dominate in the Pick N’ Roll game. Despite giving up the star player in the trade, I love the package Atlanta received.

Final Thoughts

I would have loved to see Trae play for the Hawks for the entirety of his career. His points scored or assists per game rank second all-time, only behind Doncic. Do you think this was a good trade for the Hawks? What would you have given up for Young, and how will he look in Washington?
