The victim from yesterday’s shooting in Minneapolis has been identified as 37-year-old Renee Nicole Good. A woman lost her life trying to help innocent people escape from the wrath of the new immigration agency. She will forever be remembered as a brave citizen and a kind neighbor.
Trump Administration Blames the Deceased
After ICE fatally shot a woman in the street, many officials in the Trump Administration quickly took the agent’s side to protect their own image. They know that this should not have happened, and they know what they are doing is morally wrong, but they will be damned if they do not defend their wrongful actions. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said Good was trying to run over the officer, which allowed him to take three shots through the driver’s side windshield instead of stepping to the side.
President Donald Trump said himself the shooting of Good was “a vicious situation,” but he is not sympathizing with the woman who lost her life, but with the ICE agent. He thought it looked like she was trying to run him over as well. “I think it’s horrible to watch. No, I hate to see it,” he said after watching the viral video.
Honoring Renee Nicole Good
People across Minneapolis, upward of 1,000, gathered at the site of the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good on Wednesday and held a vigil to commemorate her life. While it was below freezing, they felt it was the least they could do given the situation. “We’re here today because this is a profound tragedy for Renee and her loved ones and her family,” Minnesota State Representative Aisha Gomez told those who attended.
A community organizer in Minneapolis, Erin Stene, also attended the vigil and said people may be at the site for a while, coming and going. “I think people are grieving and processing,” she said. “I think folks will be out here as long as they need to be.”
Good was reportedly out, “caring for her neighbors,” when she was confronted. She was labeled as kind and good-natured. She was also a wife and mother to a 6-year-old child. On her Instagram account, she describes herself as a “poet and writer and wife and mom and (expletive) guitar strummer from Colorado.” She was simply “experiencing Minneapolis” when she was killed. Good would still be here today if it were not for the lack of procedure, protocol, and qualifications of the United States ICE agents.
Fatal Shooting
While the federal government officials play the blame game on the innocent victim, state and local officials dispute that the shooting was in self-defense. All the videos that were viewed showed Good waving cars through as she was blocking the right lane. One car contained ICE agents who stepped out and tried to open her door to pull her out. At that time, another agent rounded the front of the vehicle, gun pointed at her. She reversed and angled the car to go right as the agent was on the left side, and he shot her three times through the windshield and driver’s side door.
What took place before the shooting is unclear. Millions of people have seen the moment Good was killed, and many agree that it was not in self-defense. People are calling it an unjustified attack, and her death has already divided the nation. ICE was not welcome into the city, and they knew that. Protestors on the streets have doubled since the incident, and federal authorities are already gassing them.
