Taco Bell is one of the best fast-food restaurants for a number of reasons. For one, it’s the only place you can get a chalupa (in most places. I don’t have a Del Taco near me) or anything like that in a drive-through line. But what truly sets the restaurant apart is the creativity in the menu.
All fast-food restaurants (except maybe Chick-Fil-A, but even CFA rotates seasonal items to a smaller degree) change their menus. The taco restaurant does it more than anyone, though, with items rotating in and out on a roughly two-week cycle. It’s good to bring in new items, but sometimes, delicious items are lost to time and deserve to stick around.

5. Cheesy Dipping Burritos
The inspiration for this article is the fact that the Cheesy Dipping Burritos are going away today. It’s a dark day for the fast-food world. It’s not terribly surprising that these are a limited-time option, but it is disappointing. The steak ones are better than the chicken ones, but either way, they’re a perfect, delicious vessel for all the interesting and tasty sauces that Taco Bell offers. They’re also pretty small and palatable, too, which makes them all the more enticing to order.
4. Cheesy Street Chalupas
The Cheesy Street Chalupas were a recent limited-time item, but they quickly made an impact. It’s been just over a year since they were on the menu, and it’s been hard to forget them since. There was a Cantina version on the Cantina Chicken Menu, but nothing beats the original. It was a perfect combination of soft, crunchy, cheese, saucy, and savory with whatever meat you chose.
3. Frito Crunchwrap Slider
When I was in high school, my friends and I used to go to Taco Bell sometimes and get a ton of the Frito Crunchwrap Sliders. They cost $1 at the time, which was an incredible steal. I would just use the quarters left in my car to buy as many as I wanted. They were smaller than normal Crunchwraps, but replacing the tostada with Fritos was a stroke of genius. It’s a shame this isn’t even a customizable option for Crunchwraps anymore. It’s also a shame inflation got to the overall menu, but that’s a story for another day.
2. Shredded Chicken Mini Quesadilla
The Shredded Chicken Mini Quesadilla was not a limited-time item for Taco Bell, which makes it even more disappointing that it left. The menu drastically changed in 2021 when the potato items, like the Spicy Potato Soft Taco, arrived, but items like the Shredded Chicken Mini Quesadilla were unfortunately lost to history. Some similar items have been on the menu since, but none quite the same or as good as the original food.
1. Naked Chicken Chalupa
The Naked Chicken Chalupa is the best thing Taco Bell has ever had. It is utterly brilliant to turn the shell into a piece of fried chicken. It’s always been a limited-time item, and it went about six years between appearances. The last one was in 2024, and I miss it every single day. It should have become a permanent staple, but instead we’re all left to wonder if it’ll ever be back. Reports suggest it is coming back soon, but I’ll believe it when I see it. It is so unique, even amongst the wide variety of items the fast-food restaurant has had over the years.
