NASCAR’s Food City 500 has come and gone, and what a race it was! Victory Lane was ready for the next winner, as fans and drivers alike were anxiously waiting for the end of the race. Drivers pushed their vehicle, tires literally went flying, and the short track kept all the cars tightly packed together! There was more trouble in pit lane during the last stage of the race than there had been the other two stages, also.

Many drivers experienced intensity on this track, with high banks and quick laps. When Kyle Larson dropped down from first place in Stage 3, driver’s wasted no time taking advantage of his pit lane stop. Bubba Wallace hit top three during this stage as well for the first time during the race. Larson continued to urge himself forward after the stop at pit lane, determined to regain some placement.
Back to Back Laps Until the End
The race today was fast as lightning, and the back to back laps were mostly dominated by Larson today. Dominating stages and laps does not always mean you win, but sometimes it can! Caution flags did not come out at all during Stage 1 here at Bristol Motor Speedway, making history and greatly impacting the results during the Food City 500 Cup Series today.
NASCAR fans really started sitting on the edge of their seats towards the end of Stage 2, and the last stage of the Food City 500 confirmed the excitement and anxiety alike for fans. Drivers took advantage of any moment they could, not knowing when the shorter track would allow another. Today’s race brought excitement yes, but more aggressive driving than you’d expect here at Bristol.

Today Was for Jon
As the race came to a close, many can’t help but feel that it went by faster than most races. While some are stuck on the overall time of the race, cautions, or tires, many were here remembering Jon Edwards. Today at the Food City 500, Arrow Mclaren cars had decals for Edwards on them, and Victory Lane had quite a memorable moment for him as well. Larson definitely not only expressed but also showed emotion over losing him.
The man knew many people, and drivers throughout NASCAR had a deep respect for Edwards. This year has already experienced several losses of respected and well-loved people in the NASCAR community. While there are many variables in NASCAR races, the respect and family based energy never changes. There is just something about NASCAR that has a deeper level of respect and connection, no matter who you are.
