During his five seasons with the Dallas Cowboys, the team was one of the best in the regular season, finishing 12-5 for three straight years. Now his teams would flame out in the postseason, failing to advance past the Wild Card round. How do I feel about the hire?
Is This a Good Hire?
As a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, this is disappointing. This was a golden opportunity to reset the franchise in a direction that is built for the modern NFL. On the bright side, he’s an offensive head coach. Despite his lack of postseason success, those Cowboy teams were some of the best offensive teams in the league. This does leave the door open for Aaron Rodgers to return to the team. Those two did win a Super Bowl together back in 2011.
Final Thoughts
This is a lateral move. You don’t go younger and try to roll the dice with a first-time head coach. The team continues to be in ‘win now’ mode, even though they might need to bottom out for a year to reset the franchise.
