Only one word comes to mind when it was announced that Bill Belichick wasn’t voted as a first ballot Hall of Famer. Wow. It was reported today that the former New England Patriots head coach wasn’t elected to the Hall in his first year of eligibility. When you think of one of the most dominant dynasties in the NFL, you think of Belichick, Tom Brady, and the Patriots.
Bill Belichick NOT First Ballot Hall of Famer

The legendary head coach missed the Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility. His accolades should have stamped him HOF-bound from the second he stopped coaching in the NFL. Belichick’s career did have a few black marks. From “Spygate” during the 2007 season to the “Deflategate” scandal during the 2014 season, his history is a little spotty.
Should Belichick Have Been First Ballot?
There isn’t a shadow of a doubt that he should have been made to the Hall of Fame his first year of eligibility. From his 333 regular and postseason wins to winning the coach of the year award three times, to I don’t know, maybe the six Super Bowl wins he had as a head coach. This is shameful from the voters. The fact that he did not receive 40 of the 50 votes is distasteful.
Final Thoughts
This is ridiculous. I would love for voters to come out and tell the world why they would not vote in, arguably, the best coach of all time. This reminds me of when they made Terrell Owens wait years to make the HOF. Do you think this is a stain on the Hall in terms of their voters, and should Coach Belichick have been a first ballot Hall of Famer?
