In another scandalous attempt to remain relevant, Euphoria star Sydney Sweeney was caught hanging undergarments on the Hollywood sign to promote her new lingerie line, Syrn. Sweeney reportedly did not get permission before hanging her bras, but at this time, Los Angeles Police Department spokesman Officer Tony Im said possible charges of trespassing or vandalism have not been filed.
Sydney Sweeney’s Newest Publicity Stunt
Sweeney posted to her Instagram account on Monday, showing her and her production team climbing the Hollywood sign in the middle of the night for a photoshoot. The video shows them putting black duffel bags into the back of a van and driving up to the sign. From there, they carry the bags up, enter through a hole in the fence, and use ropes to hoist themselves up to the sign. They strung a clothesline across and hung an assortment of bras across each letter.
Sweeney is seen climbing the back of the “H” and throwing underwear over the top. When they were done, she posed in front of the sign, smiling, with dozens of bras draped behind her. The illicit promotional video that implicates Sweeney and her entire team on possible criminal charges was to promote her new lingerie line, which is being released on Thursday.

Hollywood Did Not Give Permission
The owner of the sign’s intellectual property rights, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, said they did not authorize her publicity stunt. They reported that they had no idea about the stunt until after watching Sweeney’s Instagram video.
“Anyone intending to use and/or access the Hollywood Sign for commercial purposes must obtain a license or permission from the Hollywood Chamber to do so,” the chamber’s chief, Steve Nissen, said in a statement. “The production involving Sydney Sweeney and the Hollywood Sign, as reported by TMZ, was not authorized by the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, nor did we have prior knowledge of it.“
The organization “did not grant a license or permission of any kind to the production… nor did anyone seek a license or permission from the Chamber for that production,” Nisson added. “We are still investigating how and under what authority (if any) the Sweeney production accessed the site of the Sign.”
Sweeney’s team defended their actions, asserting they obtained a permit from FilmLA to shoot in the area, but filming at the Hollywood sign requires special licensing because it has restricted access. The bras were removed after the shoot, but a few were left slung over.
Life of An Actress
Sydney Sweeney, 28, began acting at a young age and gained early recognition for her roles in The Handmaid’s Tale and Everything Sucks! However, she broke out after the release of the series Euphoria in 2019 and the first season of The White Lotus in 2021. Her roles in those shows earned her nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards.
However, solely being an actress nowadays is not enough in the world of fame. If you are famous, you need to make an impression, whether it be controversial or standard. In Sweeney’s case, she has been more controversial. She is ripped apart for being too scandalous, judged for being too vulgar, and for being her own woman. Some of her publicity stunts have been questionable, such as her bath water branded Dr. Squatch Soap or her American Eagle ‘Good Jeans’ commercial.
Still, Sweeney remains successful, and the people who hate her only drive more money into her pockets. As long as people are talking about her, she will continue moving up. This Hollywood publicity stunt will not be a lesson, nor will it come with charges. She will more than likely do something else to make people hate her, but the remarkable thing about Sydney Sweeney is that she does not care.
