Last year was one of the most surprising Royal Rumbles of all time! “Main Event” Jey Uso shocked the wrestling world by eliminating the then sixteen-time World Champion, John Cena. To everyone’s surprise, he lived up to his name, punching his ticket to the main event, WrestleMania!
In the almost forty years of existence, Uso was arguably the biggest underdog to win the match, leaving the Internet wrestling community with mixed feelings. This year, it is more than likely that WWE Creative will go with a more conservative, expected favorite to win the 30-man match.
5 Superstars that Could Win the Rumble
Bron Breakker
We just saw on Monday Night Raw on Netflix that The Vision will be entering the Royal Rumble match. After a passionate speech by Logan Paul, Bronson Reed, and Austin Theory both agreed to help Breakker win and headline WrestleMania. The rocket seems to be strapped to the heir of “Steiner math.”
He is a future ‘Mania main eventer, but is this his year or not? He should be a favorite to win the match, especially with the faction behind him. It could be an interesting match and finish. If he doesn’t win, look for him to be eliminated by someone like Roman Reigns to set up a WrestleMania program.
Roman Reigns
The “OTC,” the “Tribal Chief,” Roman Reigns could win his second Royal Rumble. This time, he won’t get booed out of the building, but one of the greats! WrestleMania is the showcase of immortals, and who has a bigger legacy in this era than Reigns?
Roman could renew rivals with Drew McIntyre or the other “Paul Heyman Guy,” CM Punk. Both will draw money on the “Grandest Stage of Them All!” That is kind of what the biggest show is all about: big names, big matches, and viral moments!
Cody Rhodes
Say it ain’t so! By no means should Cody Rhodes win his third Royal Rumble match in four years. This would tie Stone Cold Steve Austin for the most of all time. Talk about Roman being shoved down our throats; the WWE Universe should feel that with the “American Nightmare.”
With his recent loss of the WWE Title to Drew McIntyre, Rhodes has a legit shot at 3-peating to regain his championship in Vegas. If they run it back with him and Drew, we don’t need him to win this event and tie Stone Cold. There are other ways to get there, but for now, he is on the list.
Seth Rollins
We have the “heist of the century” and the “ruse of the century.” Could we have the “return of the century” at the Royal Rumble? If you look at it, it makes sense! A former faction that turned on the leader, trying to reach new heights, an injury, and possibly a shocking return. It basically writes itself!
Will Seth Rollins’ revenge tour start on January 31st? Come in at number 30, eliminate The Vision, go on to headline WrestleMania, and once again crush CM Punk’s dream of being champion. Could be a hell of a road to ‘Mania!
Dominik Mysterio
Dominik Mysterio could make history by joining his “deadbeat” dad in winning the Rumble! The member of Judgement Day could bring in more gold to the group. Either being a double champion or trading in the Intercontinental Championship for the major title.
This guy is one of the best heels in the business and a future main eventer. The time may be a little early in his career trajectory, but I wouldn’t be mad at it. He probably has the least chance of winning on this list and is most likely a dark horse. It would be pretty cool for “Dirty” Dom to win!
