Giannis Antentokounmpo, Milwaukee Bucks, NBA

With the recent news that the Milwaukee Bucks are beginning to listen to trade offers for their superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo, his future with the franchise is uncertain. Over the past few seasons, many have questioned whether they can continue to put a championship-level roster around the two-time MVP. With teams reaching out to assess his abilities, let’s dive into who I believe are his top three suitors.

3. Greak Freak To The Warriors

The 3rd best place he could go would be to team up with Steph Curry and get traded to the Golden State Warriors. Just think of the fast breaks with these two all-time greats. I would love to see a pick-and-roll between Antetokounmpo and Curry. Now, would they have to ‘gut the team’ in order to make that happen? Potentially. They would likely have to give up either Jimmy Butler, who’s out the rest of the year with a torn ACL, or Draymond Green, as well as much of their young talent and draft picks.

Does that even solve anything? Since their 2022 championship, the Warriors have been looking across the league to pair with Curry in an attempt to squeeze out one more title. Maybe gutting the team would leave the bench and supporting cast too thin. However, with Giannis and Curry, you have a puncher’s chance in the West.

2. Giannis Joins KD in Houston

This spot would be interesting. You have a team that appeared to be in title contention last season but struggled in the postseason, and they added one of the best scorers of all time in Kevin Durant. Imagine if they traded for Giannis. Now, orchestrating a trade will be tricky. Obviously, you have to include Alperen Sengun and probably Fred VanVleet to make salaries work. If I’m the Bucks, I also want Reed Sheppard.

Milwaukee gets its young core for the future as they enter a rebuild in the Post-Giannis era, and the Rockets get the biggest fish on the market as they plant themselves firmly in the title race. Could a KD-Giannis duo be enough to knock off the Thunder out West? Maybe. I’d love to see a trade that sends him to H-Town.

1. Giannis Pairs With Wemby

Here is where I want Giannis to end up. I want to see him in the black, white, & silver playing for the San Antonio Spurs. Victor Wembanyama has been an anchor of one of the NBA’s best defenses since entering the league. Just close your eyes and imagine how dominant the Spurs’ defense will be. If you think a Steph/Giannis pick-and-roll, can you imagine 7-foot-5 Wemby and 6-foot-11 Giannis doing a pick and roll? Holy hell.

They wouldn’t have to gut the team either. The Spurs would probably have to give up a combination of two of their three young stars, whether Dillon Harper, Stephon Castle, and/or Devin Vassell, and picks. So you still have a plethora of guards and the best 1-2 punch in the lead. That would be a dream landing spot for me.

Final Thoughts

With Giannis’ future up in the air and the NBA trade deadline approaching, the only question remaining is whether the Bucks will trade him or not. Where do you think Giannis will get traded, and if it will be before the trade deadline or in the offseason?
