Nikola Vucevic, NBA, Chicago Bulls, Boston Cetlics

Holy trade bonanza. Trades are coming in left and right this afternoon. The Chicago Bulls are trading Nikola Vucevic to the Boston Celtics for Anfernee Simons. This could be one of the busier trade deadlines we have seen over the past few seasons. From massive trades to “set-up” trades, everything is happening at once. Let’s dive into this deal!

The Chicago Bulls are acquiring a young, talented guard from the Boston Celtics, Anfernee Simons, in exchange for their star center Nikola Vucevic. This is an interesting move for both teams. For Boston, you add a walking 20-point and 10-rebound center who can shoot the three ball at an exceptional rate. Conversely, the Bulls are getting younger and more athletic as they acquire talented guards left and right. Here are the full trade details:

Reaction

I love this trade for both teams. The Celtics won’t be able to see the biggest effects of this trade until their superstar Jayson Tatum returns next season, but they could have one of the best starting fives in the NBA. Now, for Chicago, they are just selling off their talent. They appear to be getting younger and more athletic around the team’s core of Josh Giddey and Matas Buzelis. Give them time, and they could be an electric run-and-gun team before we know it.

Final Thoughts

The trade deadline has been busy. With 48 hours until the deadline, teams are moving quickly to maximize their 2026 seasons, whether by selling off talent for future assets or pushing their chips to the middle of the table. What do you make of this trade?
